i have NO expericene whatsoever with leather, but i would imagine a very very very very fine coat of spraypaint would do the trick

Leather bleach might lighten it up for you, and then you should be able to use your green dye. I've never attempted it, but I read about it and maybe you should look into it.

I was able to lighten green dye by running it under water for an extended period of time. I don't think it will work for black, however.

i'm not SURE of this, but rubbing acrylic paint into the leather might work. i've heard that if you rub it in it will sort of seep (sp?) into the leather and last longer. just a thought?

vegtable oil. soak your leather for 5 min, dry it a bit to get excess water out, then you rub the oil over the portion you want to get the color out of. this takes days though, so don't get discouraged, eventually you can get your leather to white, then you know you've gone too far. whatever you choose do I suggest to test on scrap leather first and then when your satsified with your results to apply it to the actually armor.
