Greave and Bracer Patterns

Postby Karne » Thu Feb 15, 2007 8:56 am

Since I'm nearing the completion of my mail hauberk, it's got me thinking about protecting the areas it doesn't cover, namely my legs and arms...

Thusly I was wonderin' if there are any patterns floating around here for the construction of leather greaves and bracers. I've made some in the past, but they just don't look very...er....professional.
I don't give a **** if there's an h in wispering.

There are a ton of SCA patterns out there.
Someone with more time than I might post some. But try going to Google, and search: Leather armor patterns
I bet you will get a **** of info.

p.s. when you move out to SLC you will have access to Forkbeard and he can help you with some stuff too.

THere is ample advice here:

It's where I learned everything I know.
Bascily for greeves and bracers, though, you just make then out of paster board a few times, until the fit well and cover everything you want coved. THen you cut them out of leather and either put straps and buckles on em or put holes in em and lace em.

I always used cardboard for my test parts. Never wanted to go out and buy posterboard. I bet you could use brass fasteners alot easier then to.
