Composite armor

Postby Tristen » Tue Apr 17, 2007 11:40 am

i was wondering what the standards are for composite armor. particularly a helm. i am using 8oz leather. i made the helm, and have cut out pieces of 18 gauge steel. they are going to line the face guard, cover the top piece going over my head and across my forehead. i am going to use legal chainmail and give it an aventail. i know it is going to cover the rule of 2/3 surface area. but i was wondering if it would be enough steel. i will post pictures as soon as i can. i am in the process of dying the leather, so it will be after that. i am also making a war skirt that is composite of steel reinforced leather attached to a belt with chainmail. any thoughts, concerns, or hints would be very useful. thank you in advance.
i'm basically GOD, only sexier...
