shoe polish armor dye question

ive been looking for green shoe polish to dye my armor with for a while with no luck. does anyone know if i add green fabric dye to white shoe polish will it work the same or at least similar?
any and all advice will help

(p.s. i know standard leather dye works better but it isnt easily obtained for me)

Yeah, I wouldn't recomend doing that. There are plenty of places to get leather dye online. Bite the bullet, you don't want to end up with armor that looks like * because you were too cheap or lazy to do it right.

Polish...polishes it doesn't really dye or at least I've never seen it work that way. Think about it, when you're polishing shoes that are badly scuffed does the polish take out the scuff? Nope, just makes it shiny.

Ryu - You realize we have Tandy in town right? and its like....6.99 for a bottle of dye. Go pick some up and dye the armor right.

I have found that leather takes wood stain fairly well in a pinch. Not sure about longevity, but we haven't had any trouble so far.

And yet you come here for practice? Are you really telling me that you dont have the time next time you are in Boise to stop by tandy and pick up some dye? If not, Tandy has an online site... which brings your cost up just a bit more, but its worth it.
