Marvel legality

Postby Thumbs » Tue Aug 24, 2010 4:54 pm

So I'm not actually planning on making these helmets, but I was looking around on museum replicas, trying to get ideas for my armor, and it got me thinking. if made of hard leather would you be able to make these kinds of helmets and be legal?
yes i'm a nerd i know, why do you think i play this game?
magneto, probably the most efective and most legal- http://www.museumreplicas.com/p-69-marv ... gneto.aspx
Original thor helmet, probably the worst option here, it doesn't cover much, and the wings seem questionable- http://www.museumreplicas.com/p-82-thor ... elmet.aspx
alternate thor helmet- probably the coolest of the helmets, i'd actually consider something like this, but again with the pointy wings (i also think i'd get a face guard if i did something like this- http://www.museumreplicas.com/p-37-helm ... sgard.aspx
anyways, just curious, and you guys are the most effective way for me to figure this kind of stuff out

Angmarth is a step ahead of you. Here's a photo of him back in 05. The 'wings' are made of leather and I don't remember how he got them silver, I want to say some sort of paint, but I'm probably wrong.

Magneto's helm is based off one of two helms:
A Corinthian:

or the medieval reinterpretation of a Corinthian, the Barbute (aka Barbuta):

While Thor's helmet is really just a Spagenhelm with cheekplates and wings:

I don't see why any of them wouldn't be legal.

Cap had a heater in WWII before getting the vibranium round shield that is his iconic tool.

I always thought the Heater worked better for WW2 and the round for the modern day

I don't like you nerd.

This is a rare thing that I actually do know about comics. I don't put the same time into them that I put into other, nerdier pastimes.
