Leather Braiding - Quivers, Helms etc

Postby Jcollins » Sun Oct 24, 2010 10:31 pm

I have the tools, I've got the concept but before I initiate the attack I'd like some confirmation or about my approach.

So if the "0"s were holes in the leather and the X was the binding cord I'd be doing an X over the top and a

on the back side a series of straight lines across from one hole to the next.

The cord I was going to be using is what came with the leather hand Stitcher

So my questions are how to finish it off
any tips from others from past experiences?
*I've seen leather Pauldrons done this way or masks and wasn't sure how they held up.

Is the cord that came with the hand stitcher what I want to be using or a different cord?

thanks again,
Thorpe

Something like this?

Yeah, you've got it mostly right. I find it better to double lace everything. As for finishing, I just tie it off.

excellent, yeah thats what I was looking for. I've been looking over Ender's helms and some other pictures of leather armor and such that's been sewn together trying to get it down.

I ordered a book from tandy just to be sure but I've not done any of the braiding yet just wanted to be sure.

thanks again!
