Introduction

Postby KingConan » Fri Nov 19, 2010 12:09 pm

Hello all,
Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Todd, I live in Colorado. I have been building leather armor for about 15yrs now and still learning. Leather armoring is a huge passion & love of mine. I have a Renaissance Faire group that I started 16yrs ago. We are known as the Feral Horde Barbarians. My armor is hugely inspired by the Conan movies, LOTR, etc, etc. I stumbled across this forum insearch of new inspiration and thought it was very intriguing. Thought I would join. There are some very talented folks on this forum from what I have seen...and I am looking forward to chating about leather armor and the like. I would love to post some of my work in the near future.

Thank you
Todd aka Ronin of the Horde

Ya man, let see.
Are you a Dagohir Fighter in Colorado? Or Melee? I know lots of Co groups. And we're just right over here in Utah. You should come out and fight.

Ok this first one is my first attempt at armoring. It is Conans armor from the battle on the mounds scene. Pictures came out kinda dark hope you can see. I had a helmet for this outfit, but have since dismantled it to make something else.

OK this one is my personal favorite. I have leggins I wear with it (not shown) and a chainmail shirt.

This one is made of scrap tooling leather I had laying around that I couldn't bring myself to through away.

This is a miscellaneous light vest I made years ago. Would look good with a kilt.

These are misc helemts I've done over the years.

Cool stuff. I like how you make it look aged.
You realize we do not allow horns, spikes, teeth or other protrutions on armor, no?

Thank you. I do realize your group don't allow pointy objects on your armor & helmets. I do not belong to any fight groups at this time so, this stuff wasn't built for that purpose. I appreciate your comment.

yeah the Aging looks really pimp. There is something to be said for that weathered look! Nice stuff.

That reminds me that I have a 55 gallon drum of leather scraps to make something out of... maybe another barbarian set, or maybe I can con someone into cutting them all into scales for me....
