Armored surcoats

Postby PhotoJoe » Wed Dec 08, 2010 12:24 am

While these apparently were historically used as armor I think it may be wise to ask here if such a garment would pass as armor under our rules.

Typically these won't look like armor unless you use a bunch of contrasting, visible rivets or something.

But they will pass without any trouble at all.

Just rivet the leather or metal to the cloth so you can see the rivets on the outside and no checker will give you trouble for it. Most places will just glance at it, say, Yep its leather, and keep checking. I doubt you will ever get a second look.

I see a lot of these in Ohio and they pass just fine.

Even if you use cloth instead of leather they're still pretty obviously armor.

Check out the 2nd one down from the top. Though I'd use rivets with better contrast for clarity.
