Making Them Fit Better

Postby Cheeseheart » Sun Apr 03, 2011 10:33 pm

So I have a pair of greaves with straps that I would like to make fit me better. I feel like there is too much open space on their backside. What would be the best way to add some kind of panel that will give me the desired coverage, while still being able to use the straps I have now?

I had one idea:
Take the straps off, and where those holes were, add the "panel" that will give me more coverage. On the side of the panel that does not get attached to the greaves, make new holes and place the straps there. Sound like it might work?

SCA bazubands (sp?) are usually made in the style you're describing, with a 'door' or something that closes over your arm and straps down. If you google up some photos or tutorials on bazubands in the SCA you'd probably be on the best track. Good luck, and lemme know how it turns out.

You could use a lower oz leather and put it on the inside and attach some armor grade to the part where the opening is. It would give a smoother feel around your leg and just use the same straps to go around the back and hold it in place.

Ya you spelled it correct slag. That would work as well. What I was saying with the lower oz leather would be to just use that to close it instead of hingles/ straps.
