Helm interior foam/materials?

Postby Dragoon » Thu Nov 10, 2011 10:43 pm

Got a quick question regarding materials that can be used for leather helm interiors to secure your head. The helm has quite a bit of room for material. The type of helm is a Corinthian helm like Achilles wore in Troy. Anyone know of anything that doesn't itch like crazy that would secure my head in tight enough to avoid massive shifting? Trying to avoid the itching problem again.
Thank you

I use blue foam and an arming cap if I need the extra space filled.

You could look into using a suspension system like military helmets use, but you'll have to find a way to secure it.

Typically most folks with this issue just use blue foam padding and a chinstrap.

I have found that if it is just wiggle room as the problem, a head wrap, or a bandana made from a thicker material works pretty well.

Dap + blue foam, no problem at all. I need to put a strip in the top. I fought wots (Bel/Dag spawn with legal melee head shots) and every headshot sunk the helmet into my head. But IMO, this is easier and keeps me cooler than a beanie would in FL.

But we had 6 of these made, one of my guys is using a sweat band, another guy is using a beanie, To'Gur is using one of those old-school coonskin caps, two (including myself) padded them with foam. Honestly, myself and the other padder were the only two who pretty much had the helmets on all day.

Protip: don't dap it the morning of the event, fumes are fun.

Thanks I think I will give the blue foam a shot. Don't worry I won't dap it the morning of. If I did though that would be pretty funny.
