armor shoulder question

He has been making all of my armor and i am finally on the chest piece. We designed everything else to the tee. The reason why he puts those on there is to hopefully prevent a few swords from sliding and hitting you in the neck or face from a shoulder shot. (also it looks cool) It will be a few weeks before he gets that far on it so my question is, would that pass armor inspection?? It is less then an inch. But i would rather be safe then sorry. So i thought i would check with you guys on here and hear some thought on this. Also, thanks in advance for comments and thoughts on this.
