Better grip on leather gloves

Hello fellow armorers,

I recently got some very nice sparring gloves:

Only problem is, as you can see (if the board actually works) the palm of the glove is smooth. I got the wrong one and don't want to spend another €50 on a pair, but I'm finding myself losing my sword grip and having my hand hurt from having to grip harder.

What would you recommend to make a better grip:

- Sanding the leather to roughness
- Glueing on some suede leather or similar
- Sewing on some ditto
- Other methods

Thanks,
