Most of the topics so far tend to focus on the realms which is great. But What about ways to increase Belegarth as a whole? How about a video game version of Belegarth (strategy, action and fighting)? Advertising on MMORPs? Maybe we could/should start selling t'shirts and wearing them? Not just serious but joking ones and some spin offs of the property of PE dept. to Property of the HORDE or HORDE for LIfe and the such.

What about a Belegarth National tour, traveling from town to town (city to city) hitting street festivals and such?

Don't know exactly what that would look like, and might get kinda pricey depending...

it would have to make profit to actually pay people for touring. Would be cool though.

ya, though to keep commitment down, you would probebly just have a one or a small group of organisers/core people who would actuly do it, then the rest could be poeple from nearby relms and groups who come out for the day.

You could sell swords I supose...

It would take a lot of time and efert, but its just an idea :)

love the idea, the only problem being people thinking that it is for warcraft, but if we could find away around that then it would be great.

I'm pretty sure there are already people who do this. The Edhellen people, V-Hil, or others. I could be wrong, but I was pretty sure that some members do this kind of thing almost full time.

I had a thought what we could do is have everyone go out and register at other boards using some of fun bot names and post links saying porn subjects but have them link it to us!!! Telling them that the video is hidden somewhere in the board. It be like easter but fun.

Woot, I love perverts trolling our boards!

Belegarth as a whole, the way I always thought of it, realies on individual realms to do this. I've done parades, movie theater demos, school functions, more school funcations...... and some other stuff i'm sure I'm not thinking of, a couple of school projects almost 100% Belegarth related.

We do have groups that should be trying to do these things all the time, they're called realms.

i've said it before and i'll say it again. Belegarth's internet presence is lacking. Too much emphasis of our communication happens here on these boards, where the general forum illiterate public has no access too.

The Belegarth site needs to get it's broken links fixed, and the realms page needs to work for people to add their practime times and locations on it.

Realms need to have at least a bear minimum website with practice times and locations, and are regularly updated. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten screwed following out of date practice times and locations.

I had a real hard time finding groups when I got interested in Dagorhir and Belegarth. It took me months to get in contact with someone who could tell me where to go. This is because a large majority of realms lack basic available information to the interested public, at least outside outside of the boards. If people want to know where spring war is, they have to go here. If people want to know where the opener is they go here, it can't be found online. My unit, is not on the boards besides me. They are all forum illiterate and depend on me to relay information to them.

I suggest having somebody hold the title of Internet Advertising Custodian or something. Someone whose job is to actively, browse sites that have information on BMCS, the main one, realm and unit sites, making sure everything is up to date and current, and not lending itself to confusion. Also, this person could help fledgling groups who don't know how get a free website up and running where they could refer interested people to look at, find information on what we do, and when and where they can do it.

I agree Web presence is verry important, things need to look good and be clear and easy to understand or people will think it is cheep and loose interest.

Probebly not posable, but could the Belegarth Web offer basic hosting for relms? eg. www.belegarth.com/Relms/Numenor.html

idk about that,

but foamfighting.net hosts free sites for people involved in Belegarth, Darkon, Amtgard, Dagorhir, etc. Just sign up and they'll set you up with a free site.

And now the question of the day:

Raise your hand if you're volunteering to patrol the web for Belegarth.

See, thing is, most of us have lives: jobs, families, etc. and cannot/will not devote a large amount on time to surfing the web checking up on our fellows to make sure that the informaiton they are providing is accurate, especially since we probably wouldn't know the people we are checking up on if the shield bashed us off the edge of the world.

So if you want "someone" to do this, I really do hope you are volunteering for the job. If you are, that is fantastic! Get started, and don't just type about it.

I meant to volunteer myself actually jsut didn't mention it. It is a pretty epic task, perhaps too much for one person. A better way to do it, would be to have multiple people doing it regionally. One for chicago area realms, one for michigan, one for western regions. I volunteer myself for a chicago area realms, or Illinois web patroller. Maybe with some word from the leadrs of the organization, and a coordinated effor we can assign more people to do the job, and define exactly what it would entail.

I already do that with the AZ groups. :P Though making sure things are updated is difficult when the only action you have is bugging the web admin to update their info.

www.foamcombat.com is the same as foamfighting.net and due to certain people that site is no longer active

Wow... Umm... I'm going to apologize for the tone of my last post... It did convey what I wanted to say, but not the way I meant to say it...

It's been a really bad day at work. Not that that excuses my tone, but I hope it explains things...

well, Eris was right. So the question is not who will do it but how to get those that will into the positions as to do it. Beside getting them elected over others we could get Winfang to allow one or two people limited access to those spots that need to be monitored so that they can get the stuff done.

The big challenge won't be in determining what on the realm pages is out of date, it will be in finding the webmasters and getting them to fix things.

well if they can't be contacted and their website is out of date, usually it's a dead realm

I was suggesting we get them to create an allowed group with the capacity (sp) to change info on the webpages for the reason to update info.

I posted some information on the "Getting something in the News? Radio? Etc.?" Or something like that, I posed the question of how to get things officially done whenever contacting larger organizations to do things for Belegarth.

It's the realms duty to make fliers and recruit in their town. A lot of people in different realms actually attempt to go around the States and do things for Belegarth. Mostly Numenor, Arnor, and other places.

I think it'd be awesome to get some Spring Wars, Beltaine, EQ, or Okfest stuff on the national news. Like the "Today Show" or "Good Morning America" or some other daytime national show.

I started posting bulletins on MySpace, with little to no success, and thought it'd be cool to get Belegarth skinned on the front page for a day.

I think everyone would buy some t-shirts.
If we got Belegarth one the national level it would most defnatly be hey look at the idiots. Which would deter like half of the people to do this that might have joined. Although the old saying is any press is good press sometimes press can work against you instead of with you.

that's only for armegedon 3 though. I think we should branch it out to the other aspects of Belegarth. (I don't have the resource or know how or I would try to.)

If it were not so expensive to do, we could have t-shirts for each of the big national events, or hats or something. I don't like cafe press...you have to pay them for their stuff and it usually is not that good, well at least to me it isn't.

Is there anyone in Belegarth that is into screen printing or own a sporting goods store?

Xiao's done a lot of screen printing, but it's through his job, just small runs of belt flags and stuff.

I think he's done T-shirts for someone too.

Yeah, it would be cool to have like a picture of some one getting smashed into the ground, and like above it would say something awesome.... I dunno. But they need to be awesome, not just like some person... standing there.... looking heroic... and it needs to be about belegarth as a whole, not just Armageddon III.

But then to some, belgarth is "as a whole" is their chance to "Just stand ther and look heroric". IT's somthing lost in today's society, and belegarth is a release from that. Not simply a chance to pound someone into the ground. It is, at least to me, a recovered art form. And standing there looking heroic is part of it.

Point of Interest: A while ago they did have a Belegarth merchandising campaign with nice clothes ("LAY ON!" in bloody drip lettering; the Belegarth logo; a take-off of the baseball logo with the red and blue rectangle separated by the white silouette of a guy with a bat, only instead of batter it was a guy prepping a javelin throw; etc.) and lost of good other items, but I really don't know if those are still around. The most recent effort I remember in mass-clothing sales was with the 'Geddon shirt debacle last year. If we re-start a clothing line, someone needs to be sure to get ahold of those logos and produce them.

I would agree that there should be a balance between the number of "looking heroic" shirts with the number of "doing heroic things" shirts. More variety means more chances the shirts will catch someone's eye.

if we had pictures of people fighting, and then text above and below it, that would help catch peoples attention.

That Red/white/blue logo was awesome, I want a T with that on it so bad.

Obviously, any clothing line that we come up with is not gonna have 5x shirts, that's why I have iron on prints.

Gildan is a shirt company that keeps 5x readily available.

Any print shop has access to these, they are as popular as fruit of the loom.

I like the basic foam fighter shirts...I have seen them some place before.

What I say we need is a brand. If a person can easily identify something, then it makes it easier to sell. Branding is the one way to go big and have wide scale effect. We have a name, we need a logo to go along with that name so that eventually you see the logo and know what it is.

Who can do a logo?

http://www.cafepress.com/buy/belegarth A little more what you're talking about, more variety, stuff available for multiple realms even.

The pic that's the R/W/B NBA/MLB/PGA/NFL ish logo is my favorite, has been forever. I'm gonna contact winfang and see if I can get the logo for printing.

What I'm saying is that sure it may be an art form to people that have already tried and already like belegarth, but to attract more people, you need to have something that catches their eye. Some one standing there looking heroic might be good enough for you and me, but to those unsure if they want to join or not, they will probably react better and be more likely to join up if they see a picture of someone having fun, or a huge lineup of an intense battle, or someone parrying a hard hit, you know what I mean? If they see a picture of someone just posing, looking cool, then they will probably assume that's what it's about. If they see action, and people having fun, they will want to try it out because it looks fun and full of action. Do you see my point here?

Basically, posing heroically is unrepresentitive of the sport. We fight, we're not medival models.

Very true...very true

We don't want to bait and switch people with a logo, i.e. - striking heroic posses and such, but we do want to entice them to learn more about the sport.

Also, not trying to get into a Dag/Bel thing here, but The High Spires is a Dag realm and not Belegarth, just so not to confuse things...any way sorry.

The logo we are looking for exemplifies what Belegarth is...foam fighting.

Am I way off here?

Both are right.

I've seen people brought in through both ways, someone that wants to create the most amazing looking armor and just look awesome, then people who want to look simple and focus on fighting. eventually these things mesh together naturally.

Myspace, live journal, facebook. good pictures.

make your profile of you kicking * and looking good with your belegarth/dagorhir name. if you have a unit this is easier (similar styles)

they will come.

if everyone did this, belegarth could double in size every year. one person just needs to bring one person. this cycle is awesome.
