Looking for dynamic poses for coloring sheets

Postby Cib » Fri Feb 13, 2009 1:37 pm

OK, call me crazy but I think a great tool for recruitment when running a demo would be coloring sheets to hand out to kids.

For example we have an opportunity to run a demo at our Citys Centennial celebration, coloring sheets could be a great hand out!

So I am asking for anyone who has a photos that contain dynamic poses and contain clear but fantastic action that I can transform in to coloring pages.

The photos don't have to be high resolution, the fighters don't have to be in fantastic garb, nor does the background have to be clean. Modern things can easily be left out, and many modern cloths are easy to make look period when all they are is black lines!

Here is an example:
Image

Now, this is for our recruitment cards and was to be scaled down more than 50% so more detail wasn't necessary, but you can see how the modern and mediocre get up looks just fine when transferred to lines.

A Belegarth Logo would be placed on a corner of the page with the belegarth website, so when parents put their child's collared picture up on their fridge it will remind them of your realm!

The end results will also be made available for anyone to sue and modify though our web site Resource Store.

I am remembering a photo of a Red sword duel where you can see the red sword flexing a good deal as it is swung. The swords is being swung horizontally just moments before impact, by a player with his back to the camera, the sword has a red cover. The day is bright and sunny.

Not likely that anyone will know what pict I am thinking of, but if you do... I would live to know where it is. Can't seem to find it, and it is a great pict.

That's Bo back in his squiring days rocking the carhartts.

The other pic you're thinking of is Fox vs. Soth. I found it in the GM "What's the hardest hit you've ever taken" thread:

BMCS Coloring Book? Awesome. I'm sure there are a number of fighter/parents who would want on.

I like them, they kind of have a rough feel to them that encourages creative interpretation.

Are you using a photoshop filter to make them? I seem to remember there being some sort of outlining filter...

Thanks.

I am using the Gimp, not sure if it has an out liner filer, but I have other apps with the ability. It is really hard to get the results you want out of such filter though, usually they have to much detail, and when turned down, you lose important lines.

I was testing them out the other day, and wile discovering that crayons are ridiculously hard to work with, I also accidentally gave PtQ purple hair ( I thought it was going to be brown). I found it amusing.

"Coloring Pages are a fantastic hand out at demonstrations. Coloring pages are a subtle recruiting tool. When parents put their child's colored picture up on their fridge it will constantly remind them of your realm! So be sure to add you realm web site to the page."

Since this is going to (hopefully) be seen by the public, please fix the spelling and grammar errors...

Or maybe change the wording a little...

"These Pages are great for handing out to interested people who have kids at demonstrations, practices, and other times. Let the kids have fun and exercise their creativity with these fantastic Coloring Pages while you talk to their parents or siblings about our Sport. The Coloring Pages will serve as a subtle reminder to the parents of how much fun Belegarth is when they see it on the fridge at home everyday."

Also, see if you can do a demo at the local library or something like that. The library can put out a display of books on Medieval history and some of the really good fantasy books while you guys are fighting. Having a little table where kids can color these Pages and be supervised by a couple of nice people would let the parents try it out.
