trying to find a unit to roll with.

im in a small unit looking for a larger unit to fight with at spring war or armageddon, we have around ten people 6 of which are for sure going to the events, maybe more.

its are first event, although we have fighting experience we are new to events and would like to have some cool people that will show us the ropes, who we could hang out with, and most of all party with and make friends. advise for how we should get ready for the event would be nice too.

so if anyone has tips of how we could find a unit that would be awesome, and if your a unit that wouldnt mind a few extra fighters then pm me and hopfully we can work something out.

thanks guys.

I can't speak for all units, but I think it's safe to say that most won't just let you start fighting with them over the boards. They like to meet people first. So your best option would probably be to just wander around during the event, introducing yourselves and getting acquainted with different units. See who you like the best and then take it from there. Every unit has a unique vibe to it, some you may enjoy, some you may not.

As for eventing advice, you can always ask those types of questions here on the boards, or if you have another realm nearby, they can always help you with things.

ya just thought id give it a shot.

hope theres a unit out there that will arrange somthing.

i wanted to go to an event for the large scale battles, and if i end up gonig and cant find a unit to join up with it would prolly ruin my time there. so i wanted to make sure before we made a 6 hour drive that it is gunna be worth it.

thanks for your advice thow. ill prolly have a list of questions made up soon

oh and thanks for putting my unit in the unit category, that woulda took my a few trys.

Wait, I think you have the wrong impression about our battles. They aren't unit-only. In fact, most of the time the sides are chosen randomly, you don't have to be in a unit to participate. So it doesn't matter if you are part of a unit or not, you can still fight in the big line battles. The only time units even matter on the field is when heralds call "Unit Battles", and that is when they fight together. That's maybe an hour a day, out of like 6-7 hours total. So it wouldn't be a waste of time to drive 6 hours, you'll still be fighting regardless. Events are totally worth it.

No problem, I figured it'd be faster for me to do it than for you to wait for a response. :)

We usually suggest that wait for quite a while before joining a unit anyway. Waiting for a year or more gives you the opportunity to check out your options and meet most of the people in the prospective units and determine if you really want to roll with them.

Not having a unit does not ruin an event in the slightest. They are some of the most fun you will ever have, regardless of you affliations (or lack thereof).

you have plenty of time. All you need is some garb and a weapons and minimal camping equipment, then you are ready to go.

The cow is still alive and walking around so we wont know fore sure for another week or so. I'm telling you it will be really fresh.

minimal garb is really easy to get a hold of and you still have a few weeks. it only takes about an hour to make a sword so you can get it together by then.

Or, you can come and watch for the weekend and ask people your questions in person. You'd get an accurate feel for how the game is played, what we're all like in person, and you can always bring some extra cash in case you decide to just buy a sword or two from Edhellen.

Garb is easy. Solid color drawstring pants & a T-tunic (it's got 2 seams. Very easy to make) and you're set for garb.

Those are a bit more recent than the time period that we deal with. I suggest, if you absolutely can't get anything else, a pair of earth toned sweatpants with the bottom cut off and a simple tabard (a piece of cloth with a hole cut out for your head). This is cheap, passes and will let you go to an event then decide what you want to look like (after seeing what others wear).

bah, 9 hours is a short trip. Start your fighting out right and learn to travel.
