World of Warcraft Cataclysm

Postby Strom » Mon Oct 25, 2010 1:29 pm

December 7th at midnight, all over the world, nerds will be flocking to their local gamestop to purchase World of Warcraft Cataclysm.

It would probably be a wise idea to take advantage of such a high concentration of nerds in one area to hold a demo. What better entertainment while waiting in line than watching a couple of bad asses hit each other with foam swords?

I just thought it would be a good place to do some recruiting.

That's the bonus to pre-ordering it. I don't have to stay up until midnight and I still get a copy. Of course I choose fable3 over Cataclysm but still, pre-ordering > standing in line.

I like this idea. Don't forget to account for how you're gonna take a knee in the area, and bring your waivers for people who want to try.

And wear your garb, of course.

There is no better advertisement than false hope.
and somebody better make a weapon that most can point out, "OMG, I knows that Ultra Rare Epic Super Duper Mace of Vinerial Disease."
Sell them the idea that they can even make their favorite weapons and equipment to use For Reals... then when you get the to the first practice, Forkbeard shoots them down.
"Gobo, what are you cooking?."
"Boot still with foot."
"That is disgusting!"

i agree... make some gimmick to make it seem that they could build the legendary Frostmourne sword...or some crazy **** like that...and later have the elite fighters in your group hack em down like wheat being reaped!!! this is a **** brilliant idea to get WoW nerd attention, because think of it...thousands of nerds instantly flocking to Belegarth from california to iowa, florida to nevada!!! i mean seriously, the groups would be packed with fighters! and not to mention the badass WoW influence for armor and weapons and garb!!!

Something tells me that the people waiting in those lines aren't going to give a rat's * about doing any kind of physical activity, loosely related to WoW or not. The people in those lines will have already chosen their addictions.

Bonus points if someone throws together a "Sword of a Thousand Truths" as an ice breaker for the foot traffic and physical-activity-shy ones.

I quit wow to be more actively involved in foam combat... quoting myself: "I'd rather level myself up than some character that won't matter in 10 years anyway." This is coming from a guy who used to play until the server forced him to go to bed during the restart in the mornings; I was not some casual player.

With foam combat I can actually get outside, get exercise, socialize face to face with my friends, and the schedule moderates itself for me... I have plenty of time left in the day to go home and be with my family, I can even include my family in this activity. Anyway, that's the basis of my leaving wow and MMOs in general... I've gone back before, but I don't think I will this time.

Getting to the point, I'm sure there's some people in that line that play WoW because they don't believe they have access to fulfill the medieval combat dreams we all had as kids – so they settle on videogames. There may be some people in that line who are on the fence (like I was) and just need the push in the right direction. There's people who may try it, talk some serious **** about coming out, and you'll never see them again. In my opinion, a couple hours of sparring (which I personally consider fun and beneficial) is very much worth even one recruit.

I was contacted by a guy who I thought I would never see (because he lives 4 hours away from my practice location) ended up being my most active member. Sadly, he can make events when people who live 10 minutes away can't.

Just don't make blind assumptions about potential recruits, you'll find GREAT people in the most unlikely candidates.

Keep the roleplaying **** in that forum. Everywhere else, but for General Mayhem, should be a bit more serious.

And for the sake of sanity and the English language, don't swap emoticons for words. Hurts my brain.

On the note of the Cataclysm release, if I was going to be with my local realm at that point in time, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

To whom it may concern (Azgarehta and whoever expressed interest in playing) if you digital download it won't actually begin at 4. In comparison, the Gamestop I plan on going to is going to give me my copy at midnight. Just thought you should know.

With that aside, I think this is a really good idea. I am both a WoW player and someone who enjoys going out and practicing whenever I get a chance. Sadly, I don't get to do combat everyday so I use WoW as a release. I think if you present it in the right way you have a possibility of gaining a few members. Good luck to anyone who tries.

Also go ahead and talk to the. About it now, not thanksgiving week. And not the day of. Bring flyers, and waivers. You should be good to go. Also don't fight in their store.
