Teaching New People

Postby Grey Mu Gamma » Mon Mar 07, 2011 6:26 pm

Does anybody have any tips on teaching new people Belegarth? I am getting together with some friends of mine that are interested, and I was wondering if anybody could give me some pointers.

EDIT: Thanks for the help!

Also, explaining the five basic shots is a great place to start. High Cross, High straight, leg chop, leg sweep and wrap. Include stab as a 6th if your weapons are stabbing legal.

We always start our practices with free-for all. Then break it down into specific games, then one-on-one clinicals. It really helped me learn the basics quickly. And continually keeps things from getting tedious. I'm the learner in these cases, as this is my first year, and I feel opening with a big ol' "LAY ON!" forces people to get their energy up and get the blood pumping.
