I am fairly new to belegarth and I was wondering, are fun noodles allowed for not as serious fighters, :spear: like me? I dont really go to belegarth. I am in this thing called battleguard. We do not hit as hard as belegarthians do. I just need your opinions. Do you guys think a fun noodle :sword: sword\glaive would last very long?

Thanks!

For a glaive (red weapon) a pool noodle weapon would 99.9% of the time fail weapon check before ever making it onto the field.

For a sword, it might pass - maybe a 50% chance. With how we fight many of them break down during the day and end up failing by the end of the day.

You would do much better running by wal-mart and picking up a camping pad and using that as your foam. It will last longer, and feel better when you're hit by it.

http://geddon.org/index.php/Category:Foams is a helpful resource over types of foams.

Hey thanks for the link! And thank you for giving me your opinion on this subject. That's going to be real useful while making a weapon. :)

http://geddon.org/index.php/Category:How_to_build that should be of even more help since it's the how-to section of the wiki (incase you haven't gotten a chance to look around it yet).

We normally suggest that new people build a couple blue swords first, then branch out to other weapons (maces, axes, etc) once they have the basics down.

I agree. I have looked at my other blue swords(ordered from forged foam)and think I mostly figured it out. I have also looked at several weapons constructing instructions(including axes, stabbing tips, glaives, spears, arrows, etc.).

By the way, how long do you think the glaive would last in my "light hits" group?

Not sure how light you can actually hit with a large weapon, but I wouldn't give it more than an hour or so (at most) before becoming dangerous...that's if you can get it to safe with only a pool noodle. There wouldn't be nearly enough padding on it to be safe with only one noodle with any decent amount of force behind the swing. Maybe layering a couple would give it some padding, but even then, it wouldn't last long.

Here is another camp pad tutorial that you may find helpful:

Sounds good. I will consider this when making my next weapon. Just out of curiosity, where is the cheapest place you have heard of to get blue camp foam?

Walmart is the only place I know of. It's just under $6 a roll there.
