Realm Email and Marketing

Saw a few new posts on fledgling realms and it looked like their contact email were personal emails. I think marketing is a large part of whether a realm becomes successful, so I recommend easy emails that tell people what you are about. Pick something difficult for them to forget. Also, even better, put that on business cards.

If I were making emails for a new realm based in the city of Irvine, I would make up something like:

IrvineSwordFight"at"gmail.com or something like that. Our real email is sword "at"uci.edu. I think it has contributed greatly to our success and still get 1-2 emails a week from prospective fighters. They tend to show up to practice if you take the time to be friendly and answer their questions regarding your group. It also allows companies or other organizations know you are a professional outfit. It has been the primary way people contact us for movies, theater performances, and demonstrations at sporting events (World Highland Celtic Games).

I agree, Ana. Additionally, as realm leadership changes personal e-mails change, and thus online info would regularly need updated. One difficulty that I have run into while compiling info for the realm map is that many e-mail accounts associated with some realms were personal e-mail accounts that either A) garnered no response or B) were defunct. I also encountered realm e-mails that got no reply or were defunct, so if it's something that a realm decides to do, they need to make a habit of consistently checking the account, and replying to e-mails. As well, ensuring that new leadership has the info and ability to access the account is pivotal.

Does a belegarth.com address exist?

All the officers have a belegarth.com email:
http://www.belegarth.com/index.php?link=contact

Maybe the organization should have an information@belegarth.com email, or something like that.

There is bod@belegarth.com. This address gets traffic fairly regularly, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only board member who checks this email (it actually forwards to another account, but whatever).

I could easily set up an alias for information, info, whatever.

Neat and thank you! If I were a random person, I might be intimidated by the bod email, but an info email - I would probably use that.
