new underarmor question

Postby Grim Warhawk AlRitte » Thu May 03, 2007 9:34 am

Im just getting into SCA combat finally, theres a good core group here in El Paso. I was wondering if anyone has used the Underarmor Impact or Grippy shirts at all, and if they're worth the price. Or if theres a different shirt that works better. Right now I just use a regular underarmor heatgear shirt. Short sleeved, nothing special. I was thinking the grippy shirt would be nice for Belegarth too, since it might hold my armor in place better.

Sca combat it wont really matter, because you will want to wear a t-shirt over your underarmor to keep the armor from grabbing on it and tearing it. Also most sca armor buckles or ties securely enough that you wouldnt need the gripping. thats my .02

Depends on what you're wearing. I wear a Easton t-shirt under my linen tunic and then my lamellar. The lamellar is fitted to me so I never have to worry about it shifting or anything.

I wear a gambison under my armor that is about as thick as 2 towels. 2 years ago I wore it on a 109* day in the sun for 3 hours.... I was fine. I think underarmor would dry me off weird. I should try it, but I am not giving up my gambison for underarmor any day though. My gambison has saved me where my armor has left be open before.

I'm not suggesting replacing my gambeson with underarmor, but underarmor under the gambeson. But being a northerner on the mexican border makes me sweat... alot. Even the native's wear underarmor under their gambeson's and after an hour they're soaking through all 3 layers (UA, Suspension vest, Gambeson). So I was wondering if anyone had ever used any of the other underarmor shirts besides the general purpose one they sell at walmart, and if so how well they work if at all.

If they're still there, say hello to Sir Beyrold (sp?) and Sir Roger.

Your name was brought up last night at practice, and it wasn't me either. I think I fought Sir Beyrold last night, and maybe I met Sir Roger. Still tryin to get down all the names.
