Actually, the glow necklaces really help cut down on head shots (since they go around necks.) That's most of the point in having them, that and to distinguish between teams.

Please excuse me if I am stating the obvious

Yes - pre-registration helps to determine who will camp where. Remember that you need to have the Group name and Camp Master when you place your pre-registration order.

Special note:
After getting ahold of Gurrundi, it would seem that there is no officially sanctioned sin-night this year. So my question is this...
Who wants to throw a party?

last year if you didnt prereg them you couldnt get more than XL, and the shirts last year ran small(XXL was more like a XL)

but this years pre-reg doesnt have a shirt option.

I havent seen anything on shirt design either...

There's a thread on the Dag boards bout it. Straw did it again.

Also, you should all read this thread about some scenario rules: http://www.dagorhir.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=7&t=003551

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At Ragnarok I'll be happy to take portraits for $ or possibly for barter.
I'll be on the battlefield in yellow, embroidered dragon on the back. I'll be happy to take pictures in the evening as well. If you'd like a posed portrait with special lighting, I will need to make an appointment with you and charge an extra sitting fee.
I have a Nikon D80 DSLR, and I'll have my laptop with me as well. So you can review the pictures I take and choose which ones you'd like printed.
I can get pictures developed in town, so you will have them in hand before you leave.
I have hundreds of pictures of the last 6 Ragnarok's, as well as Badon Hill & Gates of Fire. I'll be happy to sell copies of those pictures as well.
Just a little background;
- Been taking pictures for 22 years
- Photography student at the Colorado Institute of Art
- Photographed 5 weddings, & around 40 events
- Commercial photography with a survey company for a few years, and also some commercial website photography.
"Battle" photography is by far my favorite
I believe it's at 3, either in their camp (which is in the merchant row section) or by the grandfather tree.
I'm probably wrong on one of the points, I'm sure she'll correct me/be more specific.
2 pm thursday. Hopefully in a Pavillon or by the Grandfather tree. If both are taken, it'll be in camp, which will be somewhere on the back 40.
No worries if you cant. I've bugged ya enough. ;)
Brenna,
I'd like to take pictures of your wedding. Please let me know when you decide where it will be so I can get a good idea of what angles & settings to use.
I think the grandfather tree might be surrounded by people watching the Thursday Battles. ( It's not sloth day anymore ) Unless they do woods battles that day. In which case those pictures would need to be taken uphill so I don't get the parking lot in the background.
IMHO, The main pavilion is ugly, not good for pictures. There will be cars parked around it, and Botch keeps a bunch of coolers and stuff in there too.
Would you like to do posed shots of you and the bridal party afterwards ?
Will you be doing toasts and cutting a cake later ?
I'll probably take a few hundred pictures. I can edit them and send them to you on CD a couple weeks after Ragnarok. How does that sound ?
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Solusar, I got a good belly laugh out of your email ! You'll have to think of something else to barter ;)

Cryn, you rock.

As soon as I know more, I'll let you know about location.

We would like some posed shots, but there ins't much in terms of wedding party, so the large group pics aren't going to be as necessary. We are looking for a lot of during ceremony and general candid stuff. There will be some after ceremony shots and "cake cutting" type shots. (Not entirely sure of what we are doing for a "cake" yet).

A cd would be great, my mom is hoping to make a montage of photos from RAg to use at our family reception in July.

Thanks so much. PM me with your thoughts on compensation and we can discuss/haggle.

A couple from my house got handfasted by the bridge on the other side of the lake last year. It's pretty shaded over there, I think, as well as somewhat secluded. And it's pretty over there, too. Take a look at it, see if it's a possibility.

Due to trying to get a full car to go to split gas, we probably won't get there till Wednesday or Thursday. And honestly, my body is really bad at taking heat, I get really sick really easily in hot weather, so I wouldn't be psyched about a week long.

hey Cryn, is the DA camping by themselves or is it a Triad camp?

Shroom (hopefully) and I are planning on making the trip for Thursday - Sunday, and we're looking for a place to stay. I don't think many EBF are going this year. *possibly Fang.

Dood, Jimmy, you're gonna be at Rag? YAY!!! If you can, you should shoot to arrive Weds before 7 b/c, well, you just should. Sending you a PM with further details..

About the heat: depending on who you're camping with, there might be shade. Also, the temp does drop down at night, not by a lot, but enough to be comfortable. Plus, the Grandfather tree provides the best shade for sidelines during battles.

I have very mixed feelings about that as read, I will have to see it in action.

Im worried that a scenario will start one of those multiple hour res battle things and someone will get all gay and say sorry you cant join this hourlong+ scenario cause you werent on the field when it started.

Im not remotely close to being able to fight nonstop all day.

Im gonna take water breaks after every couple fights.

Im gonna socialize and spar alot out of the main battles.

I really hope these factors dont prevent me from fighting when I want to.

I never noticed at any point that people simply walked onto the field midfight, so im not sure what that whole part was about...

I think it will be less frustrating than past experiences, honestly. At my last Rag (21) it took so long to set up the battles every day (45+ minutes, I think) that a lot of people left the field to go sit down (or wished they had, in my case). I anticipate that battles will start and end when they are supposed to, rather than being delayed to the point that everything after the main scenario is curtailed or canceled.

Without giving away too much, each day will have one hour of tournament fighting, one hour of unit/chapter battles, two consecutive (but different) hours of scenario battles, and then field/miscellaneous battles until it gets dark. Thursday is the exception, because the most popular tourneys have been reserved for that day, BUT if you're not fighting in a tourney there is ALSO a woods battle. So, you won't miss the main scenario battles if you show up a little late, and even if you miss the first one you won't miss the second one. And if somehow you sleep until 3, then you still have 3+ hours of unstructured fighting, which will probably start out as two-team field battles and then get whittled down to ditch-style fighting as people (other than myself) get tired.

Does that assuage your concerns?

Woods Battle vs. Cake of Awesomeness.

You may be able to sneak into the woods battle later. ;)

The hero Belegarth deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A Viking *.

Again, without giving away too much, the woods battle will have a rolling sign in/out, so you can show up when you want and leave when you want. :

Will have to see when the time gets closer, but I will likely have to wear at least somewhat dress garb to the wedding.

Oh well, we'll have to see then what time everything is starting.

Alright. If I can come to Rag this year, it would only be for a couple of days. What three days would be the absolute best days to come for someone who wants to demolish his body through ungodly amounts of fighting?

Come thursday or friday, or wednesday if you can manage, and stay through the last day.

Saturday's fighting is pretty good.

Really though, if your intent is to demolish your body, go anytime, there are people fighting pretty much all day, every day.

Also, if you go thursday, you can do the woods battle, which demolishes your body just going up the * hill, and fighting in the woods is just awesome (shade+intense shirmish rezzing)

the woods battle and the castle scenarios at the end of the week were the 2 fighting highlights of rag22 for me by far.

last year due to RL constraints our group was only able to attend Thursday Friday Saturday and it was so worth it, but everyone we talked to reiterated to us, that every year every day gets better as you get to the next day, everything just ramps up to further awesomeness as days pass.

however, the woods battles were the absolute best for me, as they are my personal favorite location to fight/scenarios

You should go for the end of the week. If nothing else, Dagor Dagorath has over 1,000 fighters on the field, which is very much impressive. You should all experience it.

Solusar - maybe we'll have 1000 fighters on the field this year, but last year's record setting Dagor Dagorath was just over 600. There were only 1200 or so attendees last year, including kids, non-combatants, folks who left early, etc.

Or was attendance 1400 last year and 1200 the year before? Anyways, you're right that it's the biggest battle of full contact foam fighting we've got. Besides, I'll be Heralding, so you all should make the effort to come and show me how much fun I'm missing this year. ;)

I'm pretty sure last year was 1400 because I definetly remember a ridiculous amount of people to kill at the end of the week.
