The Celtic Club is sponsoring the Fourth Annual Irish Scottish Festival and Gaelic Games on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 11am-8pm at the Stark County Fairgrounds at 305 Wertz Avenue NW in Canton. The Festival is in memory of Mary Rita Murray Klein. Mary Rita was co-founder of The Celtic Club and one of the founding organizers of the O'Hare Irish Dancers.
The event will feature a Hurling Match (Akron Celtic Guards vs. Pittsburgh); Highland Games; Melinda Crawford (the 2003 National Scottish Fiddle Champion); The Mickeys; Akron and District Pipes and Drums; Lisa Spicer; Celtic Clan; O'Hare Irish Dancers; NEO Harp Circle; Merle Mollenkopf, Poet; Akron Canton Dart Club Tournament/Workshops; 105th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and Company "A" Fifth Texas Infantry Regiment (Civil War re-enactors); Dagohir/Belegarth (Medieval Combat Societies); Archery Demonstration; Stark County Genealogical Society.
The event will also feature Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary (Draft Horses); Irish Wolfhounds; Highland Cattle; Scottish Sheep; NE Ohio Collie Rescue; Indian Summers Border Collie Rescue; NE Ohio Shetland Sheepdog Rescue; Stark County Humane/Animal Rescue Groups; Canine Agility Drills.
There will be vendors, food, refreshments and free parking (enter at the North Gate). Admission $5.00; Age 12 and under $3.00.
