The Romans have a reputation for rhinohiding, and Dominus is their leader. So far as I can tell, this reputation is unfounded. There are two or three who simply refuse to take double-green hits (yes, I've seen this, and I'm talking about being RAMMED in the leg 12 times in a row that I counted by a chick standing right next to me, on one occasion, and on another, RAMMING another in the leg over and over and over and over). Two of these individuals developed a severe temper about it, as well. Unfortunately, Rome has around 50 or better fighters, and for 3 to be rhinohiders, that's really not bad, but people harp on them as if they represent the unit. I've never had a rhinohiding problem with any of the officers, and have found most Romans to take their hits well. I've never observed ANY issues with Dominus personally on the field.

It take one person to ruin a reputation; 100 to build it back up.

Again, this is not what this thread is for.

I think the best parts of this thread (which is pretty ugly anyway) are past, so let's just lock it before it becomes a mock-the-n00b and/or rip-on-someone-who-isn't-here flamefest.

It's not so much that I want this thread to die. More so that I wish it would have been aborted before it was posted.

For now, I suggest we kill it with fire.

Well, we would tear Dominus apart on HIS forum, except that every time someone brings up his rhino hiding, he bans them and locks the thread.

I've only been to two rags, but both times I got the impression that the Romans were less than honorable, on the whole, about hits. I saw multiple times Romans getting tagged two more times in the back, turning around, calling armour, and fighting on. My first Rag, a guy kicked a Roman yelling "TAKE YOUR F***ING HITS!". This past rag, a guy punched Dominus in the face for not taking hits.

I've only fought Dominus a few times and have only had him blow off a blatant hit once. My first Rag I was using a PVC and noodle red. I blew the tip out (PVC came through the noodle and hit him) on his arm and he just kept chopping away. But then this most recent RAG I was fighting spear and he took all of my double greens.

There are also lots of Romans that are really good about taking hits. But overall, it is my opinion that they are worse than average about not taking hits.

50% of this thread is useful, the other 50% should be deleted by a mod for being complete tripe and useless warmongering propaganda.

I've said this before, but I believe only in the mod forum, so I'll put it up here as well.

Yes, I agree that this thread is at least 50% useless. More like 80% is my guess.

That said, there is still no reason to delete really anything in this thread. Nothing has broken the rules, and I'm specifically working to ensure that things don't get locked or deleted simply because one person thinks they're useless. It may get split and some stuff moved to GM at some point, but right now it's staying where it is.

Thanks, Derian. It's refreshing to see an Admin who feels as I do on the subject of censorship. :-) For everyone else, just because you don't like something on a public forum gives you no right to delete it. Except maybe the * Youtube video... I'm pretty sure I would be DISABLING embedded Flash on here altogether, but that's just me.

Personally, I don't care - I say the more weapon tech improves, the better off everyone is. But I do understand why this would upset them. In addition, you have to keep in mind that Rome, as a unit founded by Dominus, has spent very large amounts of money on COMMUNITY ARMOR, weapons built with more advanced materials than our good old PVC and blue camping foam, etc. And this guy fronted a lot of the money to do that. Also, ego trip or not, he has a lot of good fighters who are far better soldiers, who are very loyal to him and the unit. Once again, not necessarily a unit I would want to join, but I definitely have to respect the man for what he has built.

And he definitely comes off very differently online and in person. In person Dominus has always friendly and gracious around me. Though I don't have a problem with his online persona, I see that many do, and I understand why. But that's just how he comes off, and I really think it would not be in anyone's best interests to take some of his harsher online statements, and a brief clip out of a unit charter, and judge him on those, while forgetting about all the contributions he has made to Dagorhir.

When I say that there is more to Dominus than many people know, you should all take that for fact. He is not really a bad or evil person, he beleives in what he is doing, I may not agree with him on many aspects of his political thinking but I have always respected him as a person.
