Dude was just asking for opinions. I've seen stranger things work. That being said, I'd fail it.

I don't really like getting into arguments on the Dag board. I've been waiting for 3 years to be allowed to post and I don't wanna lose that privilege just yet.

Back on topic though, it just sounds seriously dangerous to have a bolt in the striking surface end of an axe.

I can understand the desire to add weight to the offensive end of a "mass" weapon...but that is just an accident waiting to happen. Umm... physics anyone?

There are worse and more dangerous counterweights out there. One of my favorite horror stories involves people using AA batteries inside their cores, and when the battery comes loose, it flies to the end and/or comes out of the weapon. If it's a new battery, this is a problem, because when you have a high-force impact on one end of a battery, it discharges all of its electricity.

Ask Duracell about counter weighting.

The least unsafe suggestion I read was to put shotgun pellets in epoxy and add that to the business end, but even then, that doesn't exactly make me happy . . .

Because you know someone's gonna try it and mix up the pellets and the powder...

I weight things with high-density glues, tapes, and foams. Example, flail heads? Take a 3 inch piece of 1/2 PVC stuffed with bluefoam and wrapped with half a * roll of Gorilla Tape and wrap it in 3-4 layers of bluefoam with some open cell and you've got yourself a beefy head that never fails.

Are flail heads allowed to have cores? For some reason I didn't think they could...
There's no room for heroes in the country called War. There's no one out here but soldiers and sorry * and it's damned hard to tell the difference between the two of them. The gods of war are a pack of random bastards, as indiscriminate as hand grenades and hailstones.

They certainly are. I superultramegadouble checked before I built it that way and my flanged flail has passed at Beltaine 08 and Ragnarok, plus Dur-D and Anvard's practice fields.

pennies taped around handle and 14 gauge wire again wrapped then taped around handle...best way and you get all the counteweight you need. If anyone has trouble swinging hard come find me at an event ill teach you what i do. FYI ill be at beltaine, mel, SW, rag, arm, choas, EQ, and Okfest for big/eastern events most western events (since i live out here). taping/gluing anything into/onto a core is dumb and will end up hitting someone, you don't need it. I already get enough people telling me i hit too hard and i'm a buck 50 wet.

* you skinny man. In that case I should learn how to hit hard from you, especially if my tubby * is heavier. I'm still trying to get my bf to Yestare, but if we don't make it there, we are going to Chaos Wars.
