Mirelle, you are correct. I think paypal was different when I was using it in 2005.

You didn't have to press the little + to see the box then.

Hmmm it was just open for me, maybe a setting on my paypal.

I could see how that would be easy to miss.

Ideally I'd say every day, like our intelligent friend suggested, but... By half way through the week, that may not go over real well with my head... We'll see. I'd definitely like to open Ragnarok in style, so Sunday or Monday?

They should let you check anything you want. They will x-ray the crap out of it and look at you funny... Then check it. There's no rules about flying with a foam and wood shield...

Who are you flying with?
Have someone bring a loaner if you can. Also, put flyers in your bag by your weapons, it helps.
Funny story. I was flying to Rag last year and had a bunch of random **** in my backpack including my dagger, some armor, and my copy of Lord of the Rings. They had to check my bag to find out Lord of the Rings wasn't a bomb. Apparently it showed up orange on the screen and that means they can't identify it. Like I said, funny story.

Tiberius - the EBF have flown with their shields as checked baggage many a time and from what they told me they never have had problems with it.

But, looking at your shield, it may go over the size limits and be treated as an "oversized bag". And that is pricey, no matter how light. The real answer to your question is to go to the airlines website and look up their baggage policies directly. And as I mentioned on one of the Ragnarok newbie threads, if you fly on a code-shared flight for some or all of the trip make sure you meet all of their regulations or it could cost - usually $80-100 EACH WAY.

Another option is to ship the shield via ups or fedex ground - but allow several days for that to get from Florida to Ohio (i.e. you may need to ship it this coming mon-tues for it to be there next Monday). Again, more detailed advice in those threads.

Also, feel free to PM me if you've got questions about your airlines policies. If you talk to someone at the airline about baggage and whatver, make sure you take down their name etc. if possible. Phone people and gate agents can make mistakes.

My shield is over sized. I looked into all those options Kyrax and it would still be cheaper to make a new one before hand. If I don't sell it at rag my grand parent(snowbirds) visit every winter and could just bring it down with them then.

Datiji,

I believe I fought you at the night battles on Saturday. You had a black shield with a white drawing in the upper right corner. I was the guy with the red club, bald and wearing a black kilt. I must say it was a most enjoyable experience. Well met!
