Borderlands, Amtgard event Central Illinois

Keep on the Borderlands

This link aboive is to the Keep on the Borderlands event web-site. This event will be the next Rising Winds coronation and also pending the CoM vote at Clan, the first coronation of the Kingdom of Tal Dagore.

Obviously for my Bel friends this is an Amtgard event which means there will be games that use magic and all those full rules of Amtgard. Still I really believe this will be a fun event for many of you. We will have lots of ditching and a double elimination tourney for a sweet trophy.

Please visit the website and set aside September 16th-19th for this exiting event.

Also please take time to look over the game rules as posted on the site. Borderlands has a Victory Points system that extends across the entire event and will allow companies (or units) of all sizes a reasonable chance to compete. It also has an achievment point system akin to what you have seen in video games to further tempt players. The event mixes all the great parts of Amtgard into a great event concept.

AND they are giving away a fully playable basic D&D module based on the event as the gate favor. Even has the maps in the inside cover (THANKS ANGMARTH!!!)! It's that cool. Gotta love an event based on the Keep on the Borderlands. Anyone here old enough to have actually played it?

Man, I grew up on the "Blue Book" D&D, and had a tattered (missing the cover and a few pages) copy of Keep on the Borderlands I got from my mother and my uncle... That was a classic player-killer module.

Its an interkingdom specialty event, featuring a couple of crownings rather than a corronation event.

Actually, it is a Coronation event as well Bangor. King Kaads is stepping down as a new King steps up (unless Kaads is running unopposed for another term (I dunno, I've not been following the RW list lately), and if everything goes well at Clan, I'll be crowned as the first King of Tal Dagore. So yeah, it's even MORE special.

This event pretty much has the full spectrum of everything thats good about Amtgard. Some of it a once in a life time experience. I'm jazzed.

As for the gate favor... Angmarth does some f'in amazing stuff. The cards he made for us for Knoblander were probably one of the most impressive things I've ever seen as a tool in any MCS / Larp / Event period. I'm psyched he's doing the module.

I intend to make this, as my first Amt event ever. With the names involved in running it, it oughtta rock. Hopefully, I'll see you guys there!

This is so ridiculously close to where I live I'd look like a tool if I didn't go.

Never been to an amt practice or anything though.
