New Amtgard Kingdom Inaugural Event in Illinois

The Principality of Tal Dagore has been elevated to the status of Kingdom at the Gathering of the Clans 2010.

Our Inaugural Coronation will be held at the joint Kingdom of the Rising Winds and the Kingdom of Tal Dagore event, The Keep on the Borderlands.

Event is Sep 16, 17, 18, 19 at Wolf Creek State Park near Matoon & Windsor, IL. Details can be found at www.whereisthekeep.com

The Kingdom of Tal Dagore is centered in St Louis, MO and includes pretty much all of Missouri and the western half of Illinois.

We would like to invite as many Belegarth (and everyone else for that matter) as possible to this event to celebrate this seriously big deal occasion! And at that, I'll turn it over to MHOG to pimp the event. Seriously, he's got it all. This is one hell of an event format.

I already posted about this earlier in this forum but now that we know its also the inagural coronation for a new Amtgard Kingdom, its even a bigger deal. We have a multi category double elimination fighting tourney for a sweet trophy. I honestly think that even under Amtgard rules, the top Bel guys have a chance to win.

We do have some full class Amtgard games and I knwo that for my Bel friends that will be a challenge but we want to make all the fighting as accessable as possible to any player who wants to play so we will provide quick learning guides or personal coaching for our rules.

Our center piece game is a caravan game where the caravan is an actual weighted hay wagon. Moving that thing while the other two teams try to kill you should be a good challenge. Of course we will have a lighted ditch field so fighting can go on all night, which isnt to say we dont party at night.

And of course our gate favor is a playabout D&D module of the event based on the classic Gary Gygax module, Keep on the Borderlands.

This event will cost $20 and we will end up feeding people 3-4 times so its a fair bargain as far as a crossover event to try.

This should be a good chance for Bel players to try an Amtgard event. Not that we wont be playing Amtgard (because we will) but becasue we expect a few other Bel people we will be trying hard to make it fun people with less Amtgard experience.

So we have a trophy for the winning unit at Keep on the Borderlands. To win you will need to get your registered and make sure you have all your members registered as part of your unit. Since about 70% of the points are earned as part of large teams and since the rest are earned as individuals, this format favors large fighting companies much less than any other event format out there. It is also a format under which a Belegarth unit would have much less of a disadvantage because of rules unfamiliarity. Even so, Bel units might or might not want to compete for this but since I was spreading the hype around... You can read all the details at http://www.whereisthekeep.com. There will be a posted scoreboard throughout the event so you can check on your progess.

The trophy is pictured below. Although the dice box is currently empty, there will be polyhedrals in it appropriate to the D&D roots of Keep on the Borderlands.
