Dagorhir in Appleton, Wisconson

Postby Rocca » Sat Aug 07, 2010 10:13 pm

Hi guys -

I can't post on the Dag board so I thought I might ask here - is the Dag group in Appleton, Wisconsin active? It doesn't look like they've updated their website for the last 2 years . . .

I will be at a family reunion that is only and hour away from the town in September, so I thought I would hit it up . . .

They are still active. There's a fair number that practices every Saturday at a gym on Lawrence University but I don't know what time. I'll shoot this thread to Dominick and he'll be able to answer your questions.

I really gotta pay more attention to these boards. Thanks, Brooder!

Yep, K'lar is still active, and the website updating process has been...well, a bit of a story. But yeah, we meet Thursdays at 5:30, Saturdays at 3:00, and we get (an oftentimes free) dinner together afterward. Our outdoor practices are on the Lawrence University Main Hall green, and the closest visitor parking is in the chapel lot across the street.

We'd love to host you, please feel free to visit! When will you be in town?

I'd be in Manitowoc between the 16th and 19th of September. If I could get access to a car/someone to drive the rental then I'd totally come down for your Saturday Practice (Provided family stuff doesn't take precedent). Thanks for the info and hopefully I'll be able to swing by!

Sounds great!

We've got a zombie-themed party coming up, and that Saturday after practice is one of the dates that we're considering--so if you like movies and games involving zombies, you should come to that, too. :-)

Realms like Klar are the saving grace of Dagorhir. Bangor doesn't visit often, but they are always a fun group to swing by. If you want to do archery, there is an Amtgard park called the Frostlands one town south which holds it's park day Sunday at Winnebago County fairgrounds.

Bangor will warn you they are a little tappy-tappy there, so if you just want some hard fighting, stick with Klar.

Bangor NEVER speaks in first person. I think there's a prize if you catch him speaking in first person, actually.

I don't know... I don't think so. I heard about it on ESam, so, who can really say?

Real life does not count. In real life, all you have to do to elicit first-person beserk mode is to repeatedly backshot him in a ditch. This can be exonerated, however, by claiming to use an axe in his back.

Thanks for the kind words, Bangor! Incidentally, people in K'lar have been asking about when we're going to see you again.

Rocca, if you're also interested in visiting the Frostlands, let me know. I'm a semi-regular there as well, and would be happy to give you a lift from Appleton if you'd like. I'm not personally a fan of Amtgard's magic system and whatnot, but you won't find a better group of people to converse with in the area, and their hospitality is top notch. The Frostlands is definitely worth a visit.
