War of Silica Vale II & FOOLS RAID 4/29-5/1/11, Milpitas, CA

Postby Kyrax » Wed Jan 19, 2011 8:02 pm

Come join Dagorhir Mallenorod for our Second Annual War of Silica Vale and
FOOL'S RAID
April 29 - May 1, 2011, Milpitas, CA

Location: Elm Group Area, Ed Levin County Park
Address: Old Calaveras Rd., Milpitas, CA 95035

We are camping from Friday, April 29th through Sunday, May 1st, 2011. With the volunteer work we're doing for the parks, the cost will be $10 per person for the event. That's tenbucks for fighting, camping and fun all weekend long. An optional Feast is also planned, with hearty foods on Saturday night and a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday morning - all for $5 a head for two meals.

The parking fees will depend on if you are staying overnight or not. Please carpool to save on parking space and cost. Parking will be $12 per car for Friday and another $12 for Saturday if your carload is staying overnight. Sunday is included for the overnight guests. If you are coming only during the day, parking is $6 per car each day. We have a combination lock at the gate, so we *ARE* able to let people in after sunset.

We have a TON of camping space and a large fighting field, plus some possibilities of shaded fighting areas. There is an onsite washroom with flush toilets and running water, but no showers and no power, so plan accordingly. Shopping is nearby offsite. And there is a playground right by our camping area, hiking trails, a stocked fishing lake so bring the family along for the fun. The park is in the foothills to the East (Northeast) of San Jose), so expect cool evenings and warm days, with chances of fog, hang gliders and wild turkeys (the noisy kind).

Update: Aggelgorod has officially named Silica Vale the site of FOOL'S RAID 2011

We have people planning to come from all over California and are working on getting the word out to our Western Brethren. Flyers are available and there's a Tome of Faces Group that you can sign up for to get more information. Please PM me (Kyrax) with any questions.

[edit: Had to correct the price to ten bucks for the event, I had the wrong number there]

Just a bumpage - had to correct the event price.

Plus we're getting confirmations from many Dagorhir and Belegarth groups from all over California and the west. If you're nearby we'd love to have you come and join in on the fun. Heck, even if you're not nearby you're welcome!

Belegrim realms to be in attendance will include Pelargir, Salamandastron, Fortriu, Anduril, Andor, Saracor, Renekgard, Sword Coast, and hopefully more of our California brethren.

Drop by our Facebook site or events page and let us know if you're coming. This will help us give the Park an accurate estimate when we finalize the permit - we have to give them a specific figure and pay for that level of use, and we cannot exceed it. The good news is that the site has hosted up to a couple thousand - but we'll be happy with a couple hundred camping and fighting for the weekend:

Preliminary weather reports are in and it will be gorgeous for Fool's Raid. High temps in the 70s to low 80s, lots of sun. The evenings will be cool, and maybe foggy in the mornings, so plan on layers, bring sunscreens and you'll be ready!

We got confirmation that some of our Vegas brethren will be joining us, how about you?

Will be there, driving two Aggelgorod vets with me. Ana is coming up, Lord Black is coming up, and another fighter that you haven't met. These are the other drivers we have, and we're looking to fill all their cars with Anduril/SoCal fighters.

Great Kael and Darth - look forward to seeing you there. And there will be lots of Bay Area Belegrim too!

Weather report update: Highs in the Upper 60's on Friday to Mid 70's on Sunday, with lows in the mid-40's. All three days will be sunny, but Friday is supposed to be a bit windy, though our location in the foothills should protect us some. The park has a Hang Glider launch port, so who'd think that it would be windy...

So bring some sun screen and bring some layers to help you stay warm at night.

Forgot to mention - we'll have merchant's onsite too.

I'll have some BestDagStuff sword kits, inexpensive fiberglass arrow shafts, and 6-packs of modular arrowheads. And there will be at least a couple of folks hawking leather goods, and the often there are folks selling odds and ends.
