RAG Weapons Check 2011

So I've been asking questions to the head weapons checker for this years RAG and i have some news you may all enjoy.

First, PD shields will be allowed. I think this year is the "test" to see how they do on the big field, so hopefully we can get this changed by next RWC if all goes well.

Second, they are not enforcing the three inch rule on clubs, aka 2.5 clubs/speedbats will be allowed.

So come to RAG... its sort of awesome.

I almost wanna come just to use all-foam strap shields, 12oz speed bats and pocket brig. Realists can suck it.

Rag is awesome despite Solusar being there.

As for your idea Dangus, oh what a rebel you are. You'll be so unique.

No worries, the rules allow all of that. Heck, bring 'em down to Fool's Raid and we'll all have fun. There will be a lot of California Belegrim as well as Dagorhirrim from all over the west.

That's not an idea. That's how I play most of the time.

I'm proud to say that I got to meet Kyrax and shake his hand while he was on the way to the rez point. It's pretty awesome to meet people from all across the nation that do this stuff.

Ya hit up geddon which is right before this, then drive to rag, who doesn't want a week and a half of fighting...**** that would be sick.

Too bad geddon isn't a week long.

Man im going to be like the majority of rags field only to not matter in the slightest.

Rag isn't as bad as the dagorhir boards make it out to be man. You get some over zealous idiots who are trying to improve the game and then you get everyone else who is playing the same thing we are. The only difference is location. Also most pocket brig looks like ****, thus why I hate it. Bad leather armor is bad, meanwhile great leather armor looks awesome. I hate armor that is half assed.

No'vak ill be doing just that, Im hitting up most of geddon driving from illinois, to PA setting up camp hanging out for a few hours. Back to ohio for a few days and then ending with the last few days of rag.

I'm curious as to why they're doing this when they just changed the rule?

I asked and this is what the head weapons checker told me.

There is no "3 inch rule" -that was an interpretation, a minority opinion that wanted to treat club-like thingies as if they were covered by sword dimension rules.

In other words, don't sweat it. Come, fight and have fun.

What Kyrax said - no rules on club dimensions have been changed in the five years I've been playing. Last year's 3" test was a fringe interpretation, was badly received, and a different person was put in charge this year who's interpreting the rule on clubs as most groups play it.

Of course, if you build any weapon to the barest minimum standard in terms of amount of foam and weight (ala turbo club, or as I like to call them...battlewands), if anything goes wrong or comes up short, and they fail, you have no basis to complain. Except maybe viking bastards.

"Quicktube" and don't worry. The VB wont complain if you minmax quicktube fails. We bring enough weapons to not care if one can't be used. Be prepared right, just like the scouts, but with a sailor's mouth and attitude.

I heard the wackiest rumor that cored shields are going to be banned from Rag. I'd like some confirmation that that's just as stupid as it sounds and is of course not true.

zwei who did you hear that from? cause they are all types of wrong. If anything i could see it the other way but blackhawks not a complete douche when it comes to make up rules out of nothing.

What he said. The person you talked to was obviously high.

Some kid. I figured it was wrong, but thought I'd ask. I think he was confused about the introduction of PD shields or something (which, in my opinion is a travesty, but that's another rant).

The Rules passed last Rag require blue tubes to be 2.75" in diameter, this is what I am forced to require. The new rule leave no room for interpretation. It is easily achieved by adding a little foam in strips to create a flanged mace out of a quicktube. With a bit of engineering, I bet you could make it removable for use on fields elsewhere.

As far as shields go, that is correct, shields will be checked for safety regardless of what is covering them. There are no core requirements in the rules, so there will be no core requirements at Rag.
