It's not SCA, it's EMP (Empire of Medieval Pursuits). It's a SCA splinter group in the Pacific Northwest.

Once and yes... was my first SCA style fighting experience... what a kick it was, nothing like getting your bell rung for real... Aveloc was very cool to us random fighters at the same park... his crew came and fought with us for a bit, then we were invited to try their style, sadly, I was the only taker.

They use a simplified version of strike zones; if you get hit in the arm, if you wish to RP gimpy arm, great, but it's not required. Three strikes of sufficient force anywhere, done. Hit in the chest (yell "1!"), hit in the thigh (yell "2!"), stabbed in the face (yell "3!") and drop to your knees in a protective stance.

And to think, we all consider ourselves pretty awesome cause we fight full contact with foam weapons... That right there looks like it would be such an adrenaline rush and a huge blast all at the same time.

I definitely need to find a chapter/realm/group close to me.

Note to knights: making you squire do his fighting trials at night in a ring of fighter makes them look BAD *.

I would strongly suggest everyone familiarize themselves with the search function on this forum. Most of the questions you could ever think of have been asked by somebody in the past.
