Fighting Seminar up on YouTube

Postby Brennon EH » Thu May 01, 2008 9:06 am

I've got my SKBC Style Seminar up on YouTube. It has 63 parts labeled Seminar 08 xx in order. Each section is six minutes long, and ends at effectively random points due to having to arbitrarily break the file into multiple pieces to upload.

The seminar covers a lot of the basics of my fighting style with an emphasis on stance, guard, blocking, riposte, and fight control using feints. It also covers sword and board and florentine short fighting styles.

I apologize in advance for the sound quality. It was windy and I cleaned it up the best I could. If any particular section is of interest to you, let me know and I can re-flim that subject in more depth and better A/V quality.

For reference, the sword I'm using meets the Bel minimum weight standards and everything I do translates into a flatblade directly.

Thank you Brennon. I've been fighting for long enough to see a lot of my contemporaries fall away and decide the game's not for them anymore.

It is tutorials like this, and sparring sessions with excellent fighters that keep my game competitive.

I appreciate your desire to teach!

Man, I did a lot worse than I thought in the sparring at the end. Hooray for a refresher course though. Thanks for gettin this up.

Just to echo what Izareth said, thanks for putting the work in on this seminar. Would it be possible to have descriptive names for the segments instead of the "08 - ##"?

It definitely would be... except I haven't watched all the pieces and figured out what to name them yet.

As I do that I'll edit the titles to be descriptive of each sections contents. If you want to make suggestions, feel free.

How about simply "Brennon's Belegarth Fighting Class 1" (2, 3, etc)?

That way, a google of your name or Belegarth may find them.

I would strongly suggest everyone familiarize themselves with the search function on this forum. Most of the questions you could ever think of have been asked by somebody in the past.

Because it's a film of an Amtgard fighter teaching at one of their events?

Where can I send money to get the whole thing burned onto a CD uncut?

I want to name the sections something useful so people can go "this section teaches blah, so I'll watch that section."

I won't take your money, but if you give me your address I'll mail you a dvd of the whole thing.

If you get a chance to shoot again it might benefit to mic the instructor so that you get good audio.

That looks great, I'll find the time to watch it all one of these days.

A heads up, my fighting tutorial video will be up in two weeks or so. It's shorter and geared more towards beginners, though, so perhaps not as interesting for someone who's already familiar with the finer points of fighting.
