Well, give these videos a look-see:
Dagorhir Fighting TutorialsThis is an introduction to basic sword and shield fighting, and it is more or less the style I use. Well, I should say, it's some of the foundations of the style I use, as well as many others. We all have our own variations on it, including differences in stance, attacks we look for, weapons, etc. Some of these videos need to be updated (for example, a 38" sword is probably too long for someone my height--5'8"--and I now use a 32" sword with a thrusting tip) The basic principles of this style are 1. Minimize all of your attacking motions, 2. preserve the integrity of your stance, 3. keep your shield in the position best-suited for blocking, 4. don't make an attack if it will open up more counterattacks than it closes down, and, um, I think that's basically it. I prefer an A-frame or Triangle stance for general fighting purposes, though I switch it up a lot depending on my opponent and the fighting situation (small melee, large battle, single combat, armor/no armor, etc); more advanced videos are coming soon.
