I mean in the particular techniques, stance, movements, etc. But I have found the discussion on primary, and support weapons to be just as interesting.

Well, noone really uses any particular style...like northern dragon, or lightning sword, or shotokan or that.

I use Western Lank-fu. Etremely effective, but you need at least a six foot wingspan.

Dur-D South Flank-and-Flank-and-Flank-and-Win will destroy all!

(Of course, that's a team tactic/style, not an individual style...)

Thanks you guys for the styles, but could you now tell me what your styles are about, and how they work. Please no one respond on the Quarterstaff Styles I can already see where those are going.

Well, give these videos a look-see:

Dagorhir Fighting Tutorials

This is an introduction to basic sword and shield fighting, and it is more or less the style I use. Well, I should say, it's some of the foundations of the style I use, as well as many others. We all have our own variations on it, including differences in stance, attacks we look for, weapons, etc. Some of these videos need to be updated (for example, a 38" sword is probably too long for someone my height--5'8"--and I now use a 32" sword with a thrusting tip) The basic principles of this style are 1. Minimize all of your attacking motions, 2. preserve the integrity of your stance, 3. keep your shield in the position best-suited for blocking, 4. don't make an attack if it will open up more counterattacks than it closes down, and, um, I think that's basically it. I prefer an A-frame or Triangle stance for general fighting purposes, though I switch it up a lot depending on my opponent and the fighting situation (small melee, large battle, single combat, armor/no armor, etc); more advanced videos are coming soon.

Like any other martial art, the basics are pretty much the basics. After that poeple usually develop a few shots that seem to work best for them and get those down. Then pick up a few more shots or combos or new ways to throw old shots. You learn not to telegraph your shots, how to feint and dodge, and economy of motion. You get all of this by fighting, fighting, thinking about fighting, and then fighting some more.

Single blue will teach you how to fight. at least that's the way i look at it. Everyone will have their own thoughts, but i've worked hard to get better at Single blue (and still suck at it) but its made my overall fighting much better.
