You tell a bunch of n00bs that there will be punch and pie at your event. They show up, in anticipation of these tasty treats. Then, just before you start fighting, you tell them that there isn't any. :fingers:

It's so much more fun to kill new fighters when they have that crestfallen look on their faces. :axed:

On a similar note, you can get people to pretty much go anywhere you want if you tell them there'll be free cake there.

While trying to drum up interest for the Bardic Games at Oktoberfest this year, we went around and told everyone there would be free cake. Apparently some people showed up, found out there was no cake and left. Awesome.

Not sure if you guys are being serious, betting you're not, but i'm talking about the weapon combination of a punch shield and a minimum length red sword.

Ummm, you're using a giant sword and a big punch shield. You hit people from really far away and when they get up close you throw your shield at them and chop them with a red sword. Not much else except that it builds a **** ton of wrist and forearm strength.

No punch n pie is the bomb, these guys are all haters. When they call for this at the next event make sure you get to the front of the line.

Anyhoo, the idea is you increase your range. The people who do this have long monkey arms and are trying to hit the guy/gal next to the guy/gal (like when you line fight, you're not fighting in front of you you are fighting the guy/gal to his/her right or left). Also, if you lose your shield you have a red. Oh be strong as hell because if you have weak wrists you recover slow. Otherwise, like any fighting style try it, see if you like it.

There's also a flavor where you use a min red and blue in florentine.

That's more like a cobbler a la florentine.

Weird, cobbler with spinach in it...

Because headshots are discouraged in our game.

Seriously, though, your best bet for figuring out why people would use a style (or wouldn't) is just to borrow some gear for a day and try it out. I, personally, can't stand punch 'n pie, since once someone gets you alone and rushes you, you're in pretty deep ****. It's great in team melees, however, since you can pair with someone using quicker gear, and march forward with them. Redentine is just a bad idea, IMHO.

It's mostly a preference thing.

Sweet picture of Grease. I have to admit, the gravestone shield is bad-ass. You can say what you like, but that's just classy.

Heh, that's the first shield I ever made. And yes, that's his blood on his forehead.
