I used to do this all the time.
I use the bigger fry now, the one for larger red swords, becuase I use 1/2" Square cores. They hit harder than round.
If you use round core, you can use the blue fword fry. Your sword will fail for flex in about a year. But that's a pretty good run for an ultralite weapon.

No, it is not dangerous in any way. The metal in question in is cover first by the rope and second by my hand. It is in no way near any striking surface.
I do this with every sword I make and modify all the swords I get already made.

I do this exact same thing, and he's right, it works great and I've never had anyone complain about it. On another note, I've got a friend who is 6'7" and 300lb who wants me to make him an exact duplicate of a 49" 27 oz one-sided nodachi that I've had for a while, and he favors using. I suspect he wouldn't have too much problem wielding two of those at once, or at least one and a long blue...

You would think so, but you'd be wrong. It's a terrible plan and he shouldn't do it.

on rache's statement about zwulf being good. he does the florentine red thing better than any i've seen but it's also cause he fights singularly in a general flanking position and he swings those mother **** like hes black paul bunyon. if you want to rock this style swing alot and swing HARD. not a finesse style of combat. fear of being hit will keep noobs off you and then a vet will kill you. but if you stay mobile and move away from people that know what they are doing you can kill alot of people who are mid to low level fighters til you get munched by a shieldman with a clue.

Or you get harpooned by a spearman.
Stabbing people fighting with 2 heavy weapons is easy as pie.
Even though I'm big and swing like I mean it, I still hate the loss of control on the bakswing with huge, 2 handed **** wielded one handed. One you miss, that second of recovery last like 40 years.
I much prefer my normal 36" blue sword and a shorter, heavier one for blocking.
Short and heavy block spears well. Long and heavy get out of position.

After reading this and several other threads, I have resolved to make a red scythe out of a bunch of under-ripe bananas and plenty of duct tape.

As a product of Catholic schools for 13 years there was once a time where I'd have been arrogant enough to originally have said yes, until one really smart and funny guy caught me off guard saying he had his PhD. I started talking to him about it and he let me in on his "Public Highschool Diploma".
