You fail. Do not pass go, do not accrue any skill. The rest of your post was decent advice, for the most part. This **** is dead wrong.
Pick up an 18-20oz. 26-32" flat-blade sword, and learn your **** properly. This includes proper body mechanics, proper edge control, and how to conserve your momentum when necessary.
