Here's some common respawn games that we use.
Not clear on what you mean by round robin style... Most of these games switch up teams throughout play, so there's some variety in who you're fighting with/against. Not many games actually rotate through opponents aside from bear pit/gladiator.
Gladiator / Bear Pit
Best for small groups.
1v1 combat, winner stays in for the next round or loser stays in for the round depending on your preference. Can also be adapted for small teams (2v2 or 3v3). Best with 3-5 teams in the rotation.
Team Respawn / Magical Forest / Ragnarok / Valhalla / Whatever else they call this
Start as a free for all, when you die walk to the respawn point.
When there are X of you at the respawn point, come back in and fight as a team.
Repeat till exhausted.
Capture The Flag / Ring The Bell
Divide into two teams. Each team has infinite respawns at one corner of their end of the field, and an objective at the other corner of their end of the field.
For capture the flag, win by picking up the opposing team's flag and bringing it back to your own.
For ring the bell, win by striking the opponent's flag with a weapon or your hand.
Play best of 5, as rounds may go quickly.
Self-Balancing Teams
Split into two teams. After each battle, switch 1-2 players from the winning team over to the losing team and repeat.
Four Corners
Split into four numbered teams and start fighting. When you die, return to your team's respawn point and wait for the herald to yell your team's number to respawn.
Warlords
Start as a free-for-all, with everyone leading their own army.
When you are killed, you respawn and join the army that killed you.
If your army's leader dies, you go free (you're leading your own army again).
Game ends when everyone is in the same army.
