Paragon Trial

Postby Dacian » Sat Jan 17, 2009 3:46 pm

It's a little older, but I figured I'd post Collister's Paragon Trial.

The trial is to gain Tier 3 status in Serenity. The rules are in the description:

The Marshall is Sojin
The "Ghost" is Sir Bulvife
And quite a bit of familiar faces in there.

I miss my heater shield :(

Not to bad, considering he's a college-level athlete but not enough high-flying acrobatics that I like seeing from Callister.

Pentwyvern harvest feast he pulled off 4 spin shots in a row. not sure if it was for to do it or because i was yelling to see how many times he could throw the same shot and the guy not block it.

Out of curiousity, who's the blonde guy who keeps sword blocking in Winfang's video? I've never seen him before, and I couldn't catch a name.

That's David. He fights in Avalon and Khatovar, also won the shield/weapon tourney at Ragnarok last year. I've worked some with him and Calister over the years. It's a shame they don't get out to more Belegarth events because they're two really good and fast fighters. Both of them are track and field runners at University of Akron.

Knowing Calister, it was because you where encouraging him to continue to throw it.

That's either Kale or Mirok of Gestiguiste. I hate the shields too.
But yeah, I remember watching the Serenity team in 4-Horseman at Rag and Collister was **** going nuts flaking the other teams. It was amazing.

It's actually really easy to stop Calister. Legging him is simple and it kills his game.

You're not allowed to tell anyone that! lol

Anyways, if you ever get a chance, just look out for David and Collister (well....really...anyone from Serenity....). Great guys to hang around with, and a talented duo of fighters.

Hopefully, I should have more videos of sparing and such coming up after the start of the season.

Somewhat simular to our Ravager trial out west. Though it seems as though our Ravager trial is a bit more intense, and done in a smaller circle.

Wow, that sounded a bit condescending and it wasn't meant to. There was some good fighting there, and it looks like y'all had fun. It just seems to be a rather easy trial for a 3rd rank. Ravager is the first official uruk rank available and our trial is at least that hard if not harder than that.

Well, now I'm sure that Collister's gotten much better with the blocking of the legs after having fought in Khatovar this past year. Ask anybody from Khatovar. If you're fighting me, you'd better guard your legs, lol.

As you should. I fought with it once and I can't begin to describe how well it moves and well balanced it is.

I don't know about that. He seems to move as easily on his knees as you or I do walking.

I seem to have forgotten how good Dave and Collister are. I mean, I knew they were good (they kill me all the time), but I forgot how well they moved... I suppose that running track has something to do with it.

Re: Paragon Trial

Postby Sojin » Thu Feb 12, 2009 3:45 pm

Wow, so Dacian was wrong about one thing, the explanation was not in the video. That was just me clairifying the details for what happens when there is one person left. So, here is what is really going on here:
----------

Serenity Paragon Trials
This is a timed trial. The tested warior must defeat 10 opponents in under 5 minutes.
Once an opponent has been defeated, the next opponent enters immeadiatly.
If an opponent defeats the test taker, that opponent returns to their postition in the circle to re-enter later.
To keep the pace moving, if a fight takes as long as 20 seconds, the next opponent will be called in to join the fight.
Every 20 seconds, the player known as the "ghost" will respawn and and attack the test-taker from any angle he wishes.
When the test taker has reduced his opponents to one, the ghost will immediately respawn, and the test taker will face a final 2v1.
If the clock reaches 5 minutes, the trial is over and the warrior has failed.
----------

This is the first rank within Serenity that has a trial.
Also at that same event, Kurtis took the same trial, but failed. That video is also on youtube somewhere, but I don't feel like linking it right now. It's not as entertaining, anyway.

He totally punks me in one. I think it's because I was first, I hadn't fought him before and didn't know what to expect.

Not that he isn't good, mind you--but I could have done better. Oh well--more inspiration for the new season!
