The german "W" is a V sound.

Wasser (Water, aquatics) sounds like "V-AH-ss-er"

and

Wehr sounds like "Vair"

...Um...give me more pictures! You guys totally derailed the pictures and videos thread...not that linguistics isn't noteworthy...but just feel free to sprinkle in some pictures amongst the morphemes and phonemes.

Ok cool. So can you maybe clear somthing up for me .
I have been told that the " V " in latin had a germanic pronunciation "W". As in Volk pronounced Wolk.
The Guy who told me this was a Doctor so he had enough Latin to write a Rx and claimed to have read Tacitus, Caesar, and Livy. in original launguage.
How ever this would change the way most people say Veni,Vidi,Vici.
To sound like Whinney Whiddy Whicky
Hardly sounds as Boastful
Yeah OR Niegh ???

Well, bishop got this one, had no netz.

though germanic does not equal german, but more like germanic = german's great grandfather, the general system applies.

V and W blended or seperated depending on the language, but in this case there wasn't a "w" in latin, but the letter v was pronounced at a "w" sound or sometimes a "u" sound, though when specifically I am hazy on. I believe the "w" sound occurred in cases when the v began a syllable, and otherwise it was a "u" sound . I studied latin a long time ago, kinda rusty;)

Reguardless.
