It is nice to see some good video of skilled fighting. It looks more like dancing.

First video with good music I've ever seen, I think.
Also, awesome sauce.

Now see, whenever someone says "that's the best" someone will almost always pipe up with "no, I've seen better".. Which is why I said "BEST I'VE SEEN" You've seen better? Cool. I haven't. Oh, and getting legged did not detrack from the fact that she was running flat out backward... not an overly easy thing for most people to do, let alone while fighting, let alone for that long.

back to you Bob. ;)

That's Morwen. She's one of the best chick fighters I've ever had the pleasure of fighting beside.

She's wicked with wrap shots.

If you are referring to the fact that we don't hit to the head, it's a safety issue. You really can't pad the weapons well enough to allow for head striking, and we don't require armor, so helms are out the door. i am real sorry you aren't impressed, but we aren't here to impress anyone, we are just out to have a good time, and I think that can be easily seen in this vid.

Also, Mithris, come to Chaos Wars, I need a contact juggling buddy! :goblin:

Head hits are a wonderful target, but it takes alot of training and control to not hit heads. Some ancient societies would put just such restrictions on their fighters in tournaments in order to demonstrate their true skill level.

The speed, power and accuracy that I saw in the vid are truly impressive (as I said). I know that impressing me isn't your goal...nor should it be. I also understand why you don't allow helms and as a result head shot...I just think its a shame considering all high end fighting that I saw on this vid. It's what keeps this a "martial sport" and not a "martial art"...not that that matters, it's just an opinion mate.

I see your point. Though I could say that those fighters could just as easily use that same skill to place shots at the head as well, we just don't. The reason we are a martial sport, IMO, is that there are rules to our fighting. in Martial Arts there are no rules when it comes to fighting, but in things like point sparring, MMA matches, SCA, Bel, Dag, etc. there are rules that restrict what can and can't be done. All of the things simulate combat to a degree, but none are comparable to it. I don't know of any swordfighting group or MMA type group that actually simulates real combat, because it is simply too dangerous.

Fair points...I still would prefer to see full body targeting as I think y'all aren't meeting your full potential. Nonetheless the vid demonstrates some serious skills. Most impressive.

Wow Maeo, thanks for posting this. I just hopped on, fearing that I might not "be allowed" to use the R-word here in Bel land, but I'm glad to hear that people just appreciate the combat. That's what its all about anyway.

If you dig the slow-motion shots, wait until you see the actual DVD in the comfort of your own home... there are a few incredible fighters showing off some fancy footwork that'll help EVERYONE lvl up! Plus, this DVD will serve as a great promotional video as much as an educational one. PLUS, its a blast to watch with friends.

Hope to fight with y'all soon! If you have any questions, requests, or large (discounted) orders, don't respond here, I'm never on forums. eric@ericscottbaker.com

Much love!

Why aren't the top fighters in Dagorhir stabbing? Like, ever?

Demox, yeah, let's get together! I've got mad love for Ixsauce and Daczilla, so hit me up. Come to Eryndor camp! I'll keep a copy for ya. ;)

Giggles, you're totally right, very FEW people use stabbing tips. I think we were struggling with some serious weapon checking inconsistencies between what was considered a legal stabbing tip. But nowadays you'll see a lot more. Thank goodness!

Oh, and that's not Dagorhir's best.... best is such a silly word in a diverse new martial art like foam fighting. These are just some varieties of peeps who do pretty good in combat. Plus, its not all Dagorhirrim, there's all sorts of games repped in the "Duels of Ragnarok" video.

Love,

~Mith~
