Just found this picture of myself getting shield bashed by my unit-mate Davith on my computer. It was taken at a day event about 6 months ago, and I forgot about it until about an hour ago.

Even better. The dead guy in blue at bottom right is my brother Liam. He and Davith were fighting, and facing away from me. I lit out after Davith's back, but he finished Liam a split second before I got there, and turned around just in time to do his damnedest to crush my sinus cavities. I had no idea he'd got me that hard until we went through the pics later that day.

That was totally that kid's first day, at a day event, on a field with some excellent fighters. No hate for the kid, I'm sure those were the only kills he got.

Personally, I'd not hate on him even if he was a 20 year vet. If you aren't paying enough attention to your surroundings that someone can run up behind you, then you deserve the death.

Good on the kid for getting a kill.

Real combat is all about the economy of energy. You're fighting people with limited resources (energy and life) and the object is to survive, so yes, killing someone who's not looking is definitely in your best interest because it means they can't fight back.

I know its part of our game, and I'm guilty of having done it too, but fighters don't get better by back hacking, they only live longer. Its my personal preference to engage people face to face in order to truly test my skills. The game is many things to many people, and back hacking is neither right nor wrong, but it is distasteful to me.

While I totally understand some people's preferences in "honorable" combat, it's never been that way. In combat, you take any advantage you can. You sneak, you backstab, you outnumber your opponent, and you do your best to destroy them so you can go home at the end of the day.

Removing 180 degrees of combat does nothing but weaken you. I may not be the best fighter in the world, but I'm hard pressed to find anyone that can legitimately say I suck at fighting... and if you manage to kill me from behind, I'm going to congratulate you on an great kill.

Will it * me off that I died? Yes, but I'm not * at you for doing so, I'm * at me for failing to be aware.

I am going with inebriated, now that I look at the picture, I feel as though I should stop the drinking, but alas, it does call to me.

Either way, I look forward to seeing at least a few of you at winter war!! It is possible that I will sober up enough to fight a few of you. My trainer says to hit the one in the middle.

In all fairness, Bam and I are both leaders of Celtic-themed units in the South, who often wear kilts. It's the fighting skill and alcohol tolerance that set us apart from each other.
