Idea for Arm 5

It sounds to me like the fighting at Rag that gets the most praise is the semi-simple themes.

Hear me out!

The Battle of 5 armies, Minas Tirith, Osgiliath, etc. are the battles I hear the most about. As we tend to be about the fighting, I think that these would be ideas that we can look into. Anything else ends up splitting on unit lines, and attitudes do get involved.

I think the themed battles let people drop pretense and bravado and just fight. That's why people rave about those battles blowing them away. Because they are set down in the middle of a hopeless city overrun by monsters, or a windswept plain with armies seeking treasure. It takes more of the real life away and makes the fighting about fantasy and fun. Not "I know I'm better than that guy!!"

Yes, more castle battles, bridge battles, and regen battles (I enjoyed that one at EQ).

Aslong as we can keep the battles simple (no complex rules) then a senerio-based are usually fun. Battles are much more rewarding when your team is working for something.

Back to it, any Arm 5 event organizers out there? I really think some simple senario based battles could help keep the fun coming! I'll have suggestions here later!

Yeah, we're thinking about it. If you guys want to offer up suggestions where more people will see them, try the NB 'Geddon forum.

yes it is it costs less and is durable enough for the little ones now does that mean than bran, carr, and half a dozen guys arent here three times a week?no but its cheap durable and less complicated so yes to me its kiddie warhammer

back on topic,my kids have gotten weapons for christmas every year ive known them they love it, and the boy even plans on being b.o.f.
the main thing is i dont want to have mine or anyones kids on the field with the grown ups and i prefer to keep them away from events until they can participate or at very least be occupied, but our geddon site has very little field space for two fights(adults and kiddies)and if the kide were fighting id want to watch them. and mine at least are pretty good with the basic rules so we could use that.the only problem id have is them seeing how daddy is at events

I know that a lot of people don't tend to favor bridge battles but I heard the ones that were conducted at Beltaine last year were pretty sweet though.

The Battle of 5 armies at rag was AWESOME

i think it was actually 2 or 3 armies though fighting to keep control of "checkpoints" set in a pentagon
and it was regen....

Regen rocks...the fighting is faster and harder because people arent afraid to die

definitely implement something like that at Arm...it was the best fighting ive done and it lasted for more than an hour

I'll suggest it for the field agenda on the NB Board.

In general, the best battles are the faceless gore-fests.

I don't want to deal with elaborate schemes and super monsters.

This may just be me, but adding a big war scenario with obstacles and armies makes for the faceless gorefest. Unit allegiances are so strong, in order to avoid making a statement with who you attack, you almost have to detach yourself from your character.

Does that make sense?

we need to have siege weapons. That would be so **** awesome. I've got plans for a reasonably safe trebuchet that can lauch water ballons and tenis balls and it's made almost entirely out of pvc. It would be so awesome to have massive army battles with siege weapons. Another idea to go along with this, water balloons count as greek fire (muhahaha) and you die no matter where it hits you. I dunno if that sounds as cool to everyone else as it did to me but I don't care, it would be awesome to have siege weapons.

I think the maze with random 8 man strike force teams went over HUGE.

Spring War 2005 we had reinforcement battles that it looked like people enjoyed.

Divide each side into several smaller teams. We used four for each side and gave each one a number. We first started the battle out with one team from each side. The marshal would call in teams from both sides after a certain amount of time.

It was such a rush to see each team rushing in to the battle. It also introduced some strategy since later teams had to figure out the best place to hit the enemy.

not that i personally mind but wouldnt a big issue with seige weapons and towers would be the falling of dead people onto the advancing crowd?

we could limit it to catapult type weapons i.e. Catapults, Trebuchets, Ballistas, etc.

I think this has been mentioned before but it would be awesome to do a week long assasin game. Just cause that'd be so awesome. And whoever wins gets a prize, like a really amazing cookie or something.

Actually in my school we have a belegarth class(I know, freaking sweet) and we had that goin on.

We would have one person as the target and people would have to kill him anytime throught the school day. But the thing is if someone see's you killing them it doesnt count and you cannot attempt to assinate anymore^.^
