food and water...

Postby Tristen » Thu Jun 01, 2006 8:20 pm

I was mainly worried about water availability. are there available water sources at the event or do we need to bring our own. also, I was wondering about fires to cook food. i see that there are feasts and what not, but i am a vegetarian so i was just wondering if there would be any way that i could light fires to cook on.
i'm basically GOD, only sexier...

1. Water. There's a well pump in main camp. I always take a few gallons from in town for misc purposes, cooking, ect. But it's usually pretty plentiful.

2. Fire. The way the camp ground is set up, there is main camp that is sectioned off into individual camps, then there are several "group camp sites" that are often just the right size for a unit or realm further down the road. Each one of these is equiped with it's own fire ring, main fire has the huge bonfire fire ring, and then several individual size ones.

Some premptive strikes on questions you might have:

Showers do exist! They are a hike (read- drive) up the road, in the main part of the campground, but it could be far worse.

Wood- aside from the usual dead wood already on the ground being okay, there is usually wood provided at the main fire pit in limited quantities.

There will also be a large water tank at main camp.

The (drive) up the road made me curious... how far is parking from the campsites? Can we drive up to unload if it's far, or will we need to carry our things?

Parking is along the main road, with the camp sites. This is OBVIOUSLY not to scale:

Okay, another parking question - say I've got a small trailer (about half the smallest u-haul). Can I leave it beside my tent to keep our gear locked up?

Sorry to keep baraging you with questions, but we're just trying to plan everything out.

About how far does one have to carry his camping stuff and other gear? I've got multiple weapons, multiple garb, armor, plus all the living essentials. Is there a drive-to-the-campsite-and-drop-your-stuff-off allowance, or is it a carry it all? If it is all carry, what are we talking here? A half-mile? More? Less? A football field?

Thanks again, big jimmy. Not having been before it's tough to know exactly what to bring and waht to leave to ensure the optimum experience.

You can park literally 5 feet from your campsite if your campsite is by the road. The most you should have to carry your gear is..... 100 feet?

Oh, okay. That makes things sound a lot more feasible... I was worried about having to make multiple half-mile trips. Excellent.

Big Jimmy, you've set me at ease. You feel free to come by our tent anytime and have a drink. Come first half of the week though, in case we run out.

I'll have to take you up on that. I simply do NOT have the money to get myself drunk all week. This means I might have to drink something other than Malibu and pineapple juice. *.

If you are lugging a trailer, you may not be able to park by your site. The road is narrow and if your **** is blocking it, you will be moved. The best bet would be to unload everything and go park in the lot. If someone in your group has a smaller car, I would say use that to make trips into town with. Manuevering with the trailer in the lot might be difficult, as no real spaces are marked out.
