Battlefield Plans for Friday of Armageddon.

Postby Sir Cairbre » Wed May 27, 2009 3:31 pm

I am running the field at Armageddon from 11:00am until 6:00pm.

I would like to hear any suggestions on what we should run battle wise, please limit responses to anyone who has been to Armageddon before.

Right now I would like to paint some lines on the field so we don't start the battle with teams 40 yards apart from each other, maybe 20 yard start lines. With a symbol in the center of the field where missiles should go into.

This might be a little out there. But I would like to recommend an old fashion game of CTF around 2:00pm first team to 2 points wins. I think it may be really enjoyable to play 100 man team CTF with teams divided by units. I would have to build some pretty resilient flags and maybe some hay bail jails.

CTF sounds fun.

I have to say, I'm a really big fan of dividing up teams by units. Everyone likes to fight with their units, but we all know that endless unit battles can get ugly, so this seems like a good compromise.

I also have to say that the chaos star in the field at spring war was awesome; it made returning missiles & retrieval much easier it seemed like (maybe it's in my head).

If we say that Unit-battles are at 1:30pm w/ CTF at 2:00 it will give units time to barrel.

Im a big fan of different kinds of regen battles, and feel that the big Bel events I have attended have had little to none.

I would love to see some more castle battles. Those were easily some of my favorite fights at Oktoberfest last year. Prolonged castle assaults could be created by incorporating the regen aspect, maybe limiting the defending team's ability to regenerate as their "garrison" would typically be less numerous than the attacking forces.

Maybe that's too complicated, but I love castle battles.

If you are doing CTF you might want to do it a bit later in the day. At 2 it will be wicked hot and that could drive numbers down. That is also when a lot of people are getting lunch.

According to the survival guide I am set to run the field :

11:00am until 6:00pm.

With 4:00pm conflicting with the ladies tea party at the pavilion. Did I read it wrong? In all honestly I will probably take the field and start things up as soon as weapons check passes their first weapon.

Edit:
Somehow the current version has crept in "Great War". Is Kegg running that?

madog,
you may substitute your version of a war game for great war. it is just that i want some themed battles to be happeneing. you may write rules and play it any way you wish. i would like of you keep the realm battles early and a short lunch break followed by unit battles, for an entire hour, that should make us get at least 5 unit battles. then you can start the great war, or what ever you wish to call it.

the problem with standard regen battles is that there's no resolution.......ever......they just keep going......no feeling of accomplishment.......nada.......

I don't mind ones with objectives though.....toward the end of the day.....so when i get bored, fighting's over anyhow.

City battles sound awesome. As for regen battles, there could be points awarded to the side that captures a certain area a certain number of times. For example if Team A storms the castle (or city) and captures it (meaning they occupy the courtyard with little or no resistance), they get a point. When Team B regroups and takes the castle back they get a point. The battle continues until one side gets X number of points. Would probably go well at the end of the day when it cools off.

a cool regen battle we run at northern events,
it is a regen battle up to a number say 200, so the first 200 people get to regen then after the regen closes for the round. the regen is usually a herald in the back of both areas. so it just makes the field seem larger for the first 5 minutes, plus it makes for a more agressive first few minutes instead of the usual stand off in the middle while both flanks "argue" for superiority.

just a thought.
