Over the last month ive been participating in the Grove City L.A.I.R. they're approximately two hundred of us, mostly highschool kids but im going to let them know about this event and see how many of us can make it, it'd be bigger than Ragnarok xD
Weve got one video on youtube from before our numbers increased so quickly, its called The Battle of the 1OO <-- my zero button is broke

We'd love to see you guys and gals, just make sure you read up on the rules, so you know what is different. Let me know if there is any way to help you guys out.

Also, for anyone under 18, you have to have a notarized waiver if their parent is not present, AND a chaperone.

Also, make sure that you have garb and weapons that will pass by our rules. There will be weapon vendors on site, but I don't think they'd have enough for everyone in stock. If you order beforehand with Forged Foam, though, they could probably help you guys out, but only if you place that big of an order now.

Just in case you haven't been dominated with enough information yet, I'll drop this:

viewtopic.php?f=83&t=31272

Do yourself a favor and read through it twice, then give the link to everyone else that will be attending and have them do the same. If you follow the advice in that thread, your first event will be a million times more awesome. Don't get me wrong; it will be awesome either way, but a bit of planning makes the difference between awesome and awesome(1,000,000).

I appreciate all the help and info, I'll read through all this and pass it on to our leaders. Where can I find waivers? And I'm 23 and my chapter consists of 18+ do we count as chaperones?

Anyone who is 21 or older (and willing to be personally responsible for someone's actions) can serve as a chaperone. If everyone in your group is at least 18, then you don't have to worry about it. Chaperones are only required for attendees who are younger than 18.

Is a pool noodle over PVC, with foam on the end for stabbing an acceptable sword design or do we need to make swords with camping foam?

Pool noodle, while not explicitly banned, generally isn't acceptable for a striking surface. It tends to break down to the point where the weapon is unsafe within an hour or two with the level of contact we use.

Where are you located? It might be helpful to visit an established group's practice or have a few people come visit your practice before hand to get a feeling for things like this.

This. Going into an event blind can be a harrowing experience if you haven't visited other reals to learn about weapons design and meet some vets.

So I hope you don't find this creepy, but I found your group on facebook and found out that you practice out of Grove City, Ohio.

There are 9 belegarth realms in Ohio. The closest one to you is FightColumbus(http://geddon.org/FightColumbus) out of Columbus, OH, followed by Minas Morgal (http://geddon.org/Minas_Morgul) out of Mansfeild/Ontaio, OH. There is an elder belegarth realm in Ohio as well, Rausumea (http://geddon.org/Rausumea), they are out of Medina, Ohio.

There is also a section of this forum for people out of Ohio. Here is the link to that: viewforum.php?f=122

I hope this helps!

Thank you all so much for the helpful information, I've watched some of your event videos as well and I'm eager to fight by your rules, I'll contact the groups in my area and try to organize something

Hey I know of this L.A.I.R. thing lol, I started it and our methods are definitely more laid back and sketchy compared to Dagorhir. I'd almost embarrassed if one of you guys came out to watch 200some high schoolers beat the tar out of each other... Actually I'd pay to see that let alone fight in it!

Also, Achillese, if you want, I can go through a crash course on Belegarth rules with you and whatever guys come with to the event if you aren't able to make it to any Belegarth practices in your area first. I love helping new guys out, and making sure that you have an understanding of our rules will make the time better for everyone, not just you.

I'll get a few copies of the rules and pass them out so we all can read up on them, I do have a question about target areas though, what does inclusive and exclusive mean?

If I say that something is between 1 and 10 inclusive, it includes 1 and 10 in that group. If it is betwween 1 and 10 exclusive, it cuts out those defining bounds, making it 2 through 9.
