Many of us do not want to see modern hats in our vacation pictures any more.
Modern Hats are clearly against the rules.
We would ask that the BoW be enforced at Chaos. All the other garb rules are going to be enforced, so should this one.
Wearing a modern hat is cheating.
Not wearing garb(happily, anywhere on the Chaos War Site, not just the field) is cheating.
Cheaters will be3 delt with.

if the event staff wan ts to allow them off the field, fine(gay, but fine).
Nor do I see what I,m doing as internet douchbaggery. It would be if I wasn't serious. I got told by some one and stoped wearing my modern cowboy hat. Because it,s the rules.

Fork, I don't disagree with not wanting modern hats or making sure people have proper garb, what I disagree with is the way you post. You don't give people options, you post ultimatums. Every post where you complain about anything is so inflammatory that it MAKES people choose a side of stupid debates. I've been trying to stay off of the boards because it makes me angry at you. I'm legitimately concerned about the state of the boards and the public relations nightmare it has become. Almost all of the flaming or egging on of flamers has originated from you in these last 8 months. I'm all for tough love, but this has gotten out of hand. People are now following your example and now believe this is acceptable behavior. It's not. People have given you too much leeway because you are a good guy in person. I shouldn't have to remind myself you are a good guy with good intentions. Take a look at your posting history recently, nothing you say is constructive. As a child I was always told; if you can't say anything constructive, don't say anything at all.

Because I respect your opinion, Plitute, I read through my posting history.
The first page that came up was about 70% positive or nuetral posts and about 30%negative. But all of the negative stuff was to get a point across. So I don't see what your problem is. I've actually been making an effort to be nicer for the last year, Aside from the flame wars in GM(with mors and that other guy which I don't think count), I've been pretty nice.
Yes I am uncompromising where the rules are concerned, but I do not feel that is wrong.
I swear alot, but I do it to get peoples attention when I feel alot of people need to notice and think about something.

We need a doctor's note for **** like that now? Seriously? What are we in, high school? This is not some new thought from me. When it was first mentioned I said the idea was ****, and i still say it is degrading and * now.

As for them not being safety equipment, yea I am going to disagree there. They protect your eyes from potentially damaging amounts of light.

Sunglasses or sun glasses are a form of protective eyewear designed primarily to prevent bright sunlight and high-energy visible light from damaging or discomforting the eyes. They also help cancel out harmful UV rays from the sun.

Granted it's from a Wikipedia page, and I am not a fan of citing wikis, but to me, that little blurb could make sunglasses safety equipment.

Well then I'm going to go out and get a suit of football gear and wear that around. Thats safety equipment, and it can be taken to extremes. At what point does interpretation of the rules become strict or open. Sun glasses, if anything, ruin more pictures than hats. They look way more out of place than something like a hat. I think people can go without their sunglasses for a week. If we used to do it for generations, I would imagine a week wouldn't hurt you.

Coming from someone who works outdoors for a living, uses binoculars and works in intense sunshine everyday and mentioning the banning of sunglasses is outrageous!

Eye fatigue sucks and since I have been working in Southern California more often I am super sensitive to sunlight to my eyes.

I don't think I need to lecture about the damaging affects of UV rays can have for your eyes, skin... etc.Taken from first link listed: "Extended exposure to the sun's UV rays has been linked to eye damage, including cataracts, macular degeneration, pingueculae and pterygia and photokeratitis that can cause temporary vision loss."

My eyes are more important than your medieval experience.

At the very least so i don't have to listen to FB * anymore...he's more annoying than a sandy *.

this is the rule in the bow that states u could wear sunglasses if they're "required out of medical necessity," well (and u can * and call me a douche and lol even an ebf if u want (guilty as charged on both counts)) but that doesn't say u need a doctor's note and there are plenty of arguments both ways. So i won't make u take your sun glasses off but i will make u take u modern hat off (that includes people like bacchus whom i like a lot more than FB). So as to shut peoples arguments down if u have the time and more importantly money go to a doctor and get a note so we can avoid this bs in the future. Though i completely understand not doing so since it costs 100bucks or so if u don't have insurance to just talk to a doctor for 15min.

Chaos Wars should use the full BOW unabridged and without additions for its events and therefore cannot "require" doctors notes for sunglasses. It is very important for the sake of uniformity in our sport to use the BOW, especially at such a large and nationally recognized event. 1) This addition is not in the BOW. 2) There is no mention of doctors' notes in the BOW. 3) Sunglasses are not a banned item. 4) There is no precedent for this. It is stupid to hassle good people to make stupid people happy...which I question will even happen.

Sunglasses are a medical item, several reasonable people have already posted citations for this.

Also, yes, I am aware that:

15.2.3. Must use the rules for combat based on those contained within the Book of War of the BMCS. A realm may develop realm-specific rules. However, the national rules will be used during any inter-realm event.

"Rules for combat" are the only thing mentioned in the bylaws that we are supposed to follow at all events (as it is currently written) These are separate from the Garb section in the BOW; however, the people making this argument have argued against that reasoning in the past and have advocated use of the full BOW at all events, so either they 1) want to change the BOW or 2) use a garb rule-set other than those in the BOW for a national event. Technically, they could do the thing they want according to the bylaws, but I would consider it hypocritical to do that considering the history of these debates.

PS: I understand the medical notes are not a real obligation, but I feel it is in poor taste.

BTW: I don't really drink, but I will be bringing some peace booze for everyone at Chaos Wars! Which is going to be epic this year. I think nearly all of California is going to come up and represent (I think the largest group EVAR or at least in the last several years!) We are so excited and can't wait.
