Prize Categories for Chaos XV

Postby Xooyan » Sun Jul 10, 2011 11:58 am

As always, Prizes will be offered at Chaos Wars for various amazing things you might accomplish over the course of the week or in preparation for our fabulous event! Categories for this year are as follows:

1. Marshall of the Day - given to the herald who contributed the most to the field and fighting each day.
2. Marshall of the Week - given to one of the heralds of the day who consistently went above and beyond during the week.
3. Best Garb - This garb must be created by the person up for the award. This category should be judged over the course of the week rather than on just one fantastic outfit. Consider people for the award who consistently dress in well made, exceptional garb. I would love to see this prize go to someone who not only makes amazing garb for themselves, but also garbs others! :)
4. Worst Garb - Can we please stop making this a competition? You know who you are.
5. Best Feast Garb - Must be made by the person up for the award. No bought garb for this category.
6. Best Armor - Must show a high standard of armor making ability and style
7. Best Death - Must consistently die in a truly awesome fashion over the course of the week. Make me want to call the ambulance. Seriously. Don't ruin it by talking afterwards. ;)
8. Best Character - Must be someone who exemplifies what they claim to stand for in terms of Persona, but also stands as an excellent example of the Belegarth community (an active participant on and off the field, one who represents the spirit of the game, and someone that freely offers their time toward the betterment of the event). To be clear, if you're a white knight you must show honor in your everyday mannerisms and fighting - no backstabbing your enemies and tripping little children. If you are a backstabbing goblin, you must behave like one at all times - no helping ladies over mud puddles and accepting honor duels. sheesh!
9. Best Nightlife Entertainment - We've got some great people entertaining us all this year. Let's keep this tradition alive and continue to show some talent at Chaos Wars!
10. Best Entrance to Feast - Someone give Lady Lillyth a run for her money this year! You saw how awesome she can make an entrance! Can you best it? You aren't going to let her take that pretty banner home again are you?!

Orion will also be running the Highlander Tourney again this year and Chili Cookoff rules will be posted shortly - if you've participated before, the rules are essentially the same.

Why is the best garb award not just for people who make their own garb like the best feast garb category? All of the other categories are for personal achievement of some variety. Should garb throughout the week also be based on personal crafting of the garments and not the ability to have someone else make it for you or your ability to shop for it?

Perhaps a best garb maker award instead for someone who makes the best garb?

I'm with Sorcia, I kinda dig the award being for the seamster, rather than someone who puts it on.

I must say I agree with Sorcia and Bortas. It takes a lot of work, sweat, blood, and tears to make epic garb. I think the person doing the labor should be rewarded.
...although I have some dead-sexy Shannarans who rock their garb like a BOSS!

I am totally for "Best Garb" being for those having made it only, or having subcategories to the award.

I am absolutely fine with that change. I'll post the corrections now. In the past, when we started offering prizes, there weren't enough seamsters to make this competative. I think it's fair to say that this aspect of Chaos has changed. Thanks for the suggestion everyone. :)

Thank you for the change. It is very nice to see us embrace people who do good things and make nice things. Perhaps next year we can get rid of worst garb altogether. That way we only encourage positive things and only give prizes to people who do things. :D

Does this count even if you arn't the one wearing the garb? I want to bring some garb to sell. Does that still count?

There will always be someone in bad garb. Odds are they will also always need public ridicule for that garb. Please don't threaten to take away out group mockery.

They gonna get the group mockery anyway, why give them an award for it.

It's like good cop/ bad cop. We make fun of them and then give them an award with a piece of garb and tell them not to **** up next year.

Makes sense I suppose. But correct me if I'm wrong (which I very well may be, as I've only been to one chaos thus far) but arn't most of the people who get put up for this award super repeat offenders??

So for best armor do you put in for the competition or just wear it and get noticed.

It has to be your armor, made by you, and worn by you. There is no "event" that you can officially enter your armor into.

Dude, last year the winner of Worst Garb got a hand held mirror that was worth about $0.50 so he could see what the rest of us could see. We at Chaos Wars hope you find this as funny as the rest of us and do not begrudge the effort at humor however poorly conceived it may be. I assure you whoever the poor sap with terrible garb is this year, he (not sexist - it's always a he) will be similarly "rewarded".

The rules state that you must be the maker so I don't see why it would matter if you were wearing it or if others were wearing it, but I think we'd like to see whoever wins this award also be well dressed themselves. :)
