Looking Like a Fine Upstanding Uruk Hai

I need some help, fellow Uruks. It's time for a garb change and I would appreciate some tips on where I can pick up or how I can make the materials I need to look like a Grunt for the next event. Is there something more specific than "black or green cloth" that I should add?

For example, where can I get some of that nifty green netting?

cant speak for the east but out west a grunt is expected to be set up in a black or brown pair of pants and a brown tabbard with a chompie on it. as far as i know the eastern guys dont realy monster it up like the west though, i would ask madog for how to dress

I think your title is a bit of an oxymoron.

I was assuming earth tones but I haven't seen any good examples of what grunts should look like on the field. Most of the Uruks I know are Ravagers and up, so I was just wondering.

As for becoming more monster-like, what do you recommend?

All the grunts I've seen just wear black sweat pants, a black shirt and green netting or burlap tabards.

That, Derian, is sapper garb IMO. A grunt is the first official UH rank, and you shoud have at minimum, a pair of black/brown/grey trousers, same with the tunic. A good belt/sash/waistcincher. A shield and a sword. As far as color goes, I would stick to black for now then branch out as your garb matures. As for being more monsterish, try to get onto the Horde forums and read what is said there about orcs. that should give you a good basis for Orcishness, if you have any questions, PM me, I am the Shaman.

Soo has it pretty much on the head.

Out east the uruk's pretty much have Black, dark green, brown trousers. They can be any style you want. But I am pretty sure the traditional trouser style wins out. Tunics can be any of the above colors and tabard can be Burlap or Netting.

NOW for the netting, i got mine hand me down and then handed it to another uruk when I left Uruk-hai. BUT you can get netting from some army navy surplus stores. You will be buying a ton so perhaps you can donate it to your unit or even to random monsters. For flair you can add a few things as a grunt. I know Feral from Numenor had lots of fur bits on his belt an all kinds of fun stuff.

But in all honesty, ask whoever is the warlord[I think that's right, warlord is black armor white triangles right? ] in your area. They will know far more than me.

black and white is chieftan.

pretty much what everybody said. I personally liked the look of Hakamas when I garbed it up as an uruk. In my opinion take what you see everybody else doing and add some accent to it. An example being is in my area I saw everybody wearing black tunics netting and sweatpants. So I threw on black shirt, green tabard, hakamas, and netting.

It doesnt make you look much different and probably not that "upstanding" depending on what your definition of the word is, but it will make you stand out a little more

Also it depends on your style. For instance Orso has it down pretty well, however he dresses in a more chivalrous manner when not in ravenger armor. The green and black tabard is what im refering to by that point

I was hoping everyone would see the sarcasm implied when I put "fine upstanding" next to Uruk Hai, but oh well...

These are some good suggestions. What about war paint? I never see any of the Uruks in my area use it, but that's because they have awesome chompy helmets. Which reminds me, can I have a chompy helmet as a Grunt?

Whoa, really? That would be awesome, Demox. I will be at the Wolfpack Opener so if you want to bring those that would be awesome. Don't you want anything for it?

You'd have to check with your local chieftain, out west we encourage everyone to have armor if possible, no matter their rank.

Demox, you should give that helmet to me cause it'd be incredibly ironic.

Excellent. I'll try to find something suitable for you, sir.

I shouldn't be too hard to find at Wolfpack Opener; I will be wearing a red headband. Or you can ask Physic or any of the Wolfpack folks.

Do not go the sweat pants route. Get yourself some black or brown karate pants. Totally good and durable. Baggy pants. If your wearing a tabard then make it long and dont just wear a black t-shirt under it. If you put anything on underneath it then I would recommend getting a tunic. Netting is rediculusly hard to find being that nobody makes the kind that we use to use, thats why we had to generally fade it out. And get a * fur covered cloak. Fur is warm and fun. And start getting yourself some greives and/or arm armour. And jazz your crap up. Paint some mean crap on it. Just because your using earth tone colors doesn't mean you need to get crappy clothe either. Mix up the kinds of clothe and add some layers. Throw in a war braid skirt of something. Your only going to look as cool as your imagination goes.

Thanks for the ideas, Bodhi. I made some greaves a while back but they are a bit short on my long shanks. I'm considering an upgrade, and I never thought about painting them before.

Demox, here is your reminder to bring me your awesome helmet this weekend. I am willing to trade you something but I don't know what yet. What kind of weapons do you use? How about a new sword?
