Here we go:


The first pair I ever made, out of heavy brown cotton twill. I wore them again yesterday and they still kick *. I built them off a pattern intended for much shorter people, though, so I ended up having to rotate the leg pieces after I cut them, and they came out with less extra material for pleating than I would have liked. The next pair, which I have no pics of, because I am dumb, were from a modified version of that pattern that now fits tall people with plenty of (54"-ish) fabric on each leg for pleating.

my friend Aizen had a pair of Hakamas....but they weren't really like pants? They were more like a skirt of sorts...covering the legs but not closed in the front, thats more or less what I'm looking for

...What? Like I mentioned, these haks are only 36" around each leg; I make them with 54" of fabric now, so they are looser and flowy-er. Maybe you can find a picture of what you mean?

Arrakis, if you hadn't said those were hakama, I would have just thought they were brown pants. When I think of hakama, I think of something that looks like this:

Soo Ma Tai is on the right and I made those hakama about 6 or 7 years ago.

I'm sure you can find a number of people here who can make you a pair of hakama and sounds like everyone charges just about the same so you should be able to get a pair made with a message sent to any one of us.

I don't make "traditional" hakama....I don't have the weird little whole in the side because I think it looks funny and I don't understand the purpose of the whole...lol. Also, mine just have a drawstring waist, I don't mess with the double tie around things. So essentially mine look like hakama but fit like normal pants :p

no what you are talking about are indeed Hakama or Samurai pants as I describe them to none martial arts fans. If your interested in a pair PM me and we can figure out what color and all of that. I have a feeling you like the color black though...
