Do you do body armor for women? How thick/oz is the hyde?

I'm tired of my boobs getting smashed and looking for something I can fight in and be able to breath in it. What's your rates as well?

If they don't do armor. One of our guys may be able to do armor grade bodices. He's looking for a tandy right now and I am waiting for him to get back to me as well. He lives in Tennessee right now and does indeed ship.

PM me if you need me to direct you to him or would like me to ask him.

p.s. While armor grade leather won't keep them from being 'smashed', it would help absorb some of the impact. It also depends what your breasts are being crushed during. A shield bash...is almost unavoidably going to result in your breasts being mammagrammed by a shield.

Most people don't use that default board style with the dark backround. On the one I'm using that green is hideous and very difficult to read. You should stick to normal text.

I'm already getting mammogrammed... anything that can absorb hits will help immensely!

If you're talking American leather oz, a single layer of that will fail check every time. You need 13-15 oz to consistently pass check.

8-10 oz works for the SCA, especially if you harden it; if it's more than 3/16" thick, though, you should be fine.

My experience with hides is that the variation is pretty wide. I recently had a saddle skirting side that varied from 1/2" to 5/32" and that was a 13-15 oz hide. Also, 1/2" thick leather has to be cut 4-5X with a good utility knife. I think that's so awesome. I can imagine wearing that stuff in battle and you would never getting sliced through it---although the impact probably breaks bones.

For what it's worth, if you get the armor/sole bends from Tandy, there's a lot less variation in thickness compared to the saddle skirting. They're pretty much uniformly 3/8" thick.

This is pretty interesting actually, do you have a site or anything that has prices and sizes? I've been shopping around for a new set of leather armor

Broham from the way you talk, you should go without armor.

Its usually best to fight a while without it in our ruleset, so you don't rely on that extra hit.

And so you get the hit calibration down that you should be taking right.

Its less for events and more for training actually. I'm looking for a little protection. That was the reason I was digging through these posts anyway. I'm quick, but my sparring partners hit like a truck and any little bit might help

I direct your attention to the ancient art of blocking. The guys who taught me how to fight hit way harder than yours, trust me on that. You get used to it, and you become a better fighter for it. I second Noik's advice, here.

Edit: I further direct your attention to the videos and tutorials at the top of the fighting skill and devo forum. They reveal the secrets of the art of blocking. Seriously, though, they'll help a lot.

If you want it for protection, then don't count the extra hit.

You tend to rely on that extra hit when you first start and you get armor right away.

I've been fighting for * near 4 years, and I still don't have my armor made.

Its been like a 6 month process of finding the time/initiative to even work on it.

But really I still vote no armor.
